SISAS wants to formally invite you to our upcoming Abya Yala Conference on May 3rd from 10am-3pm Ballroom! This conference marks a turning point in the Stanford Indigenous community as the voices of Indigenous folks from the Americas (Abya Yala) has yet to have a space to be intentionally highlighted. We aim to bring visibility, awareness, and celebration to the experiences and livelihoods of Indigenous peoples and communities across the continents of Abya Yala.

With P’urepecha and Quechua panelist speakers and workshops from Otomi and Maya K’iche students, we hope to engage meaningfully with representations and discussions of unique Indigenous identities beyond constrained understandings of borders, nations, and monoliths. We emphasize unity amongst Indigenous communities that transcends colonial borders, and SISAS’s mission is to uphold the values of unity and share our culture on Stanford’s campus and beyond. This type of conference is unprecedented at Stanford, and we invite you to be part of history.
