Dollars To Scholars, in collaboration with , hosted our second GROWTH Financial Literacy Seminar on the morning of March 14th! We talked about saving, investing, employment, and credit and debt, all with great participation from the audience.

We are so thankful to Members Credit Union and Alejandra Gomez for making his possible, along with others who helped us along the way! Thank you to Alejandra, Edith Targonski and the team, , and Lisa Dempsey for helping to push out the seminar and/or set up for the unexpected turnout on the fly!

And yes, we continue the tradition of eating wildly unhealthy food after. The fro-yo was stellar.

Fun Fact Friday! Small purchases add up faster than most people realize. Spending just $5 a day on snacks or coffee can total over $1,800 in a year! Tracking everyday spending helps you spot where money leaks happen and where small changes can lead to big savings.

But cutting everything isn’t the goal. Being intentional with spending allows you to enjoy what matters while still building stronger financial habits over time 📊💡

Here comes your next Meme Monday! A wise investor never puts all of their money into one stock. Instead, they diversify their portfolios by investing in a variety of different stocks and assets.

When you’re making investment decisions, it’s important that you consider the diversity of your portfolio. Diversification can protect you from heavy losses 📉❌

Here comes your next Meme Monday! When you first get a credit card, you should set yourself up for proper spending habits. Paying off solely your minimum each and every month will never do you much good, as your debt will just continue to pile!

So, it’s vital to create good habits that will ensure you stay on top of your credit card payments. If not, you’re at risk of jeopardizing your (hopefully) strong credit score. Stay diligent! 🧠📝

Fun Fact Friday! People who write down financial New Year’s resolutions are more likely to stick to them! Writing goals like saving, budgeting, or paying off debt helps turn intentions into real habits throughout the year 📝💰

But remember: writing a goal isn’t enough by itself. Sticking with it over time is what creates real progress. Consistency across months, not perfection, leads to stronger money habits and long-term financial growth.

Word of the Week Wednesday: we’ve got tax credit! A tax credit is a reduction in the amount of tax you owe that directly lowers your tax bill.

Understanding how tax credits work can help you see how governments encourage things like education, work, and saving, and how individuals and families can keep more of their money. Even if you don’t qualify for one right now, knowing what tax credits are gives you better insight into how the tax system actually affects your finances.
