📚 WOULD YOU BAN THIS BOOK?

Our first featured book is a children's classic you probably know:

🕷️🐷 **Charlotte's Web by E. B. White**

It seems like an innocent story about a pig and a spider...so why would anyone object to it? 👀

Charlotte’s Web has faced objections involving its depiction of talking animals, with some objectors citing religious concerns about animals possessing human characteristics. Discussions of death and mortality have also drawn objections.

Throughout October, stop by to explore books that have been challenged or banned in libraries and schools across the country. You might recognize some of your favorites—and you may be surprised by the reasons some of them have been challenged.

We’ll also have activities throughout the month that encourage our community to READ, THINK, DISCUSS, and learn more. ❤️📖

What an incredible week in Montgomery, Alabama! 📚✨

I had the opportunity to attend the ARSL Conference and represent Stamford Carnegie Library — and I’m coming home feeling inspired, grateful, and excited for what’s ahead. 💙

From meeting other rural and small-library professionals from across the country, to learning new ideas that I can bring back to our community, this trip was an experience I won’t forget. One of the biggest highlights was getting to present our poster and share the story of Stamford Carnegie Library and the work we’re doing right here in our little corner of Texas. 🥹📖

Of course, we also made time to explore Montgomery, make memories, and enjoy the adventure along the way!

I’m incredibly thankful for everyone who helped make this trip possible and for the opportunity to represent our library and our community on a national stage. 🫶

Just a heads-up that the Stamford Carnegie Library will have adjusted hours this week while our Library Director is in Montgomery, Alabama, attending the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL) Conference! 📖✈️

Please make note of our hours:

Monday: 2:00–6:00 PM
Tuesday: 1:00–6:00 PM
Wednesday: CLOSED
Thursday: 1:00–6:00 PM
Friday: 1:00–6:00 PM
Saturday: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM

Thank you for your patience with our schedule change! We’re excited to bring back new ideas, resources, and inspiration from ARSL to better serve our community. 💙📚
