The 2035 Plan update:
Last night at Chelsea Piers a large group of Stamford residents expressed wide ranging concerns about the 2035 Comprehensive Plan.
Most importantly, the language used by many that the plan will not change the zoning in your neighborhood. While technically true the new master plan will allow the zoning board to allow the next owner of the house next door to do just that. So you may think you are safe in single family zone today. If this Comprehensive Plan passes as is, all of that single family vibe you have come to love will be gone. Time to get involved !!

"Here is the current information on how the neighborhoods of Stamford are getting together to Protest the 2035 Plan. We are providing information to use to write individual emails to City Officials and (2) 8-12-25 Meetings."

Thank you very much!

Another major accomplishment was achieved on Wednesday. The Parks Commission denied an application to produce a two day music festival in Cove park. Fortunately the police and Fire departments convince the administration that 25,000 people in a park with only one exit was simply not safe. Maybe if the Mayor or Matt Quinones had ever seen the park they might have known that. Amplified music and selling beer and preventing residents from using the park unless they paid the promoter are prohibited by the way. The things you have to deal with in Stamford! At the last minute the venue was changed to Cummings Park and fewer attendees. Same Park rules but now next to a quiet zone!! which only exists because of Stamford' poor enforcement of quality of life issues for it's residents.

Just and update on the attempted takeover of Courtland Park By the fergusen Library. The Board of Representatives denied the library the funding to proceed with their plan. We have saved some green space and are certain the library will find more suitable accommodations on the East Side.

The next assault on our Park system has been announced. Apparently the administration thinks it's a great idea to move the money losing live at five events from Mill River to Cove Park. mill River is just to small and if permitted this event will try to attract 25,000 people and not have to pay those pesky fees that Mill River charges to clean up the mess. Not to mention Mill River was set up to be the park where amplified music is permitted. So once something like this is permitted in Cove the precedent has been set. You can expect such applications to multiply across all city parks. Let's stop the nonsense.

Some positive news about Parks. Last night the Board of Representatives denied the funding for the Library to take a section on Courtland Park for an East side expansion. Contrary to many fears there is grant money which will be available till 2030 from the feds to finance half of the project. No one knows for sure what the costs will be because the library does not know yet what they are building. So they will be looking for a new site on the east side to start their process all over. Maybe this time with a little more concern for the residents who value the very little green space in the neighborhood. Be nice if they found a parcel large enough to have a real green space outside to add to that shortage. To be continued

Board of Finance votes down YMCA purchase. No Swimming Pool. Actually this is probably a smart decision. Stamford finds it very difficult to maintain anything. Just look at Courtland Park, the barn in Cove park. maintenance consists of getting the money to maintain things and for some reason or another not maintaining the. Just wait for it to fall down and then borrow buckets of money in the capitol budget to replace it. Schools are a pretty good example as well.

Board of Finance denies Library takeover of Courtland Park! Good news for the east side neighborhood. The Library can be more useful to the neighborhood by being more centrally located on the east side on Lockwood Avenue with the new school. Park land is irreplaceable. Thank you Board of finance
