By operating shelters, transitional housing and permanent housing we can end homelessness and housing instability rather than provide only a temporary fix.

Founded in 1879, Inspirica is one of the largest providers of housing and support services in Connecticut, striving to end homelessness and housing insecurity by helping individuals and families achieve independence. We serve single women, families, people with mental illness, and persons living with HIV/AIDS, working across the spectrum of people who are homeless rather than just one segment. We address not just the physical part of homelessness, but all the reasons a person becomes homeless.

Our programs and services span emergency shelters, deeply affordable and permanent supportive housing, after school care and youth mentoring (to name a few) across 12 locations in Fairfield County, all pathways to breaking the cycle of homelessness for current and future generations. We're so fortunate to have been part of over 250 children's lives in the last year!

This summer, former Inspirica employee Takeia McAlister formed a 'Mom Camp' with her fellow moms, ensuring their daughters had a summer filled with enrichment and experiences they'd cherish. Young leaders Aria, Skylar, and Taylor (pictured, left to right) gathered the campers in August to sell lemonade, with 30% of proceeds going to Inspirica. Their joyful service to others is something we won't soon forget. We can't wait to see what they do next!

Our Empowerment Center provides year-round training for our adult residents through our EEFE program, equipping them for success in finding and keeping employment. Educational opportunities include Nursing Assistant Certification and Security Guard Card classes, making them eligible for jobs that pay a competitive wage and offer future advancement, leading to lasting stability as they work to better their lives.
