The Allyson Rioux Memorial Award Committee is thrilled to name Kaitlyn Fox from Stamford High School as our 2025 winner.
Kaitlyn is a three-sport athlete and a four-year varsity starter, excelling in soccer, basketball, and softball at Stamford High. She was named captain in her junior and senior years for all three sports.
Kaitlyn earned All-FCIAC honors in both basketball and softball: she was named to the 3rd Team All-FCIAC in basketball as a junior and 1st Team All-FCIAC as a senior. In softball, she was named 1st Team All-FCIAC in her junior year. All of Kaitlyn's coaches submitted recommendations that reflected Allyson’s spirit—she truly epitomizes everything this award represents.
Her basketball coach wrote, "She plays sports with the heart of a lion and approaches all things with a larger-than-life spirit." Kaitlyn is the first in a long time to compete at the varsity level in three sports—again, so similar to Allyson.
Her softball coach shared, "Kaitlyn exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, leadership, character, and passion that Allyson possessed." Kaitlyn is the heart of her team’s spirit and success.
These same sentiments were echoed by Kaitlyn’s soccer coach, who said she consistently demonstrates fairness and integrity and is always the first to congratulate an opponent after a game, regardless of the outcome.
Kaitlyn is receiving our award 29 years after her aunt, Kelly Fox (Trinity Catholic High School, Class of 1996), was honored. We could not be happier to welcome Kaitlyn to the extensive list of amazing and accomplished female athletes who have received this award. She will be attending Penn State in the fall.
