Do your units have a New Member Coordinator (NMC)?

A New Member Coordinator (NMC) is a volunteer whose role is to welcome new families into Scouting and help them feel connected right from the start. Joining a new unit can feel overwhelming, and the NMC serves as a friendly guide—answering questions, introducing people, and making sure new Scouts and their families feel at home.

At the unit level, NMCs act as ambassadors, helping with the membership plan, connecting families, and supporting recruitment and retention. They are essential to unit growth. At the district and council levels, they mentor and support other NMCs, promote the importance of the role, and help strengthen membership across the Scouting community. They ensure that membership remains a top focus for districts and councils.

By easing the transition for new families, New Member

Coordinators play a vital part in making Scouting welcoming, fun, and sustainable for the future.

🎄 Holiday Reminder from Scouts BSA: Your Mental Health Matters ✨

The holidays are a time for giving, connection, and cheer—but they can also bring stress or challenges. As Scouts, we know the value of community and kindness, especially during this busy season. Here are some gentle reminders:

🏕️ Be prepared. Plan your time to balance activities, rest, and fun.
🤝 Lend a hand. Helping others can boost your mood and spread kindness.
🌟 Reflect on values. The Scout Oath and Law remind us to care for ourselves and others.
📞 Talk it out. Reach out to your fellow Scouts or leaders if you're feeling overwhelmed.
