We have an upcoming cleanup on the water at
Widewater State Park. Limited tandem and solo kayaks with PFDs and paddles are available to borrow for the event.

Impromptu water quality check and cleanup with Sarah! We removed 8 bags away from and out of Claiborne Run!

4 volunteers cleaned up 6 bags of trash, 1 tires, and several large items out of the Potomac Creek side of Widewater State Park. It was a beautiful day for a paddle.

4 volunteers cleaned up 14 bags of trash away from the beaver marsh and Potomac Creek off of Potomac run road. This trash is primarily from people taking unsecured loads of trash to the landfill. We advocated for and provided strategies to ensure residents would be encouraged to secure their loads at the last board meeting and just got blank stares.

The wetlands here are just a few inches away from the edge of the road.

We found and removed a panel of roofing with insulation that probably fell out of the back of a vehicle on the way to the dump

Yesterday's Cleanup in partnership with and was a success! 17 volunteers both paddled the waters and walked the shores to collect 5 bags worth of trash, a large tire, a large bundle of rusted metal, and a first for us: a massive abandoned floating dock!

Thanks to our partners and all of the volunteers for making this high impact event happen.
