Welcome to Smile Foundation’s US Chapter. We are a 501(c)(3) organization that believes that real change is only possible with civil society participation.

Smile Foundation in India is benefiting over 1,500,000 less privileged people every year. Women and girls are at the centre of Smile Foundation’s welfare programs – be it education, healthcare or livelihood. Since inception, over 4 million girls and women have been benefited with 180,000 girls getting education, more than 3.5 million women receiving healthcare services and nearly half a million women and girls empowered with awareness, life skills and employability training.

3rd Smile Foundation Annual Gala

This special evening supports Smile Foundation’s mission to empower underprivileged girls, children, and women in India and the United States through healthcare, education and livelihood opportunities.

2025 Program Highlights-

Multiple Mobile healthcare services (Smile on Wheels)

The Pink Smile initiative addressing anemia and malnutrition in underprivileged families

After completing Class 12, Varsha enrolled in a BFSI course with Smile Foundation’s Skill Training and Employability Programme, determined to build a better future for herself.
With no prior technical knowledge or banking background, she embraced the opportunity with dedication and enthusiasm. The programme focused on strengthening both industry-specific knowledge and essential professional skills, transforming her into a confident, job-ready professional. Through continuous mentorship and guidance, Varsha successfully secured a position at NSP Private Limited.

Smile Foundation is pleased to be a part of Reading India Samvāad 2026, a national leadership dialogue and roundtable on reading and libraries, hosted by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The platform focused on advancing reading as a core element of learning and strengthening the role of libraries as shared spaces for knowledge, access and participation.

Aligned with the vision of NEP 2020 and Viksit Bharat@2047, the two-day dialogue brought together policymakers, education leaders, institutions and partners to discuss policy alignment, system-level change, digital pathways and collaboration for building a reading ecosystem that reaches every learner. Discussions highlighted the role of educators, families, institutions and communities in fostering reading habits from early years through adulthood.

Mr. Sushanta Bhuyan, Senior Director – Programmes, Smile Foundation, joined the panel as a Speaker on “Educators as Storytellers & Reading Champions,” alongside representatives from LEAD-Education, Rocket Learning, and Birla Vidya Niketan. The panel shared experiences on how teachers and educators can use storytelling and local context to connect children with books and reading practices.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education. Participants included representatives from State and UT governments, education bodies, Corporate foundations, publishers and institutions such as UNICEF, UNESCO, NCERT and NITI Aayog.

Against all odds, Nishtha (name changed) chose perseverance. In the face of adversity, education became her strongest hope for a better future.

Currently pursuing B. Pharma, Nishtha continues her studies with the support of Smile Foundation’s scholarship programme, which provides financial assistance, learning resources, mentorship, trainings and workshops, placement support and exposure visits.

Bright and hardworking like many girls of her generation, she displays clarity of thought, academic discipline and growing confidence to everything she does.

Anaemia and malnutrition can limit learning, productivity and overall well-being for many women and adolescent girls.

Through the Pink Smile initiative, Smile Foundation focuses on improving awareness, nutrition habits and regular health checkups, helping communities build stronger foundations for long-term health. When women and girls receive timely support, entire families benefit.

Smile on Wheels brings essential primary healthcare to underserved communities through mobile medical units, supporting people in managing their health consistently.

Community members benefit from regular doctor consultations, basic diagnostics and free medicines for ongoing conditions like diabetes, hypertension and blood pressure. For many, access to continued treatment over months and years has made a real difference. By delivering care at the doorstep, the programme reduces access gaps and supports healthier lives.

Rohit dreamed of becoming independent and building a better future. Through Smile Foundation’s STeP skill training programme, he gained essential computer skills and workplace readiness. With the right guidance, he secured a job as a computer operator and now earns with confidence and dignity. At Smile Foundation, we empower underserved youth with 21st-century skills, helping them achieve independence, meaningful employment, and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
