Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance provides emotional, educational, and practical support to children with cancer and their families.

A childhood cancer diagnosis is devastating to families. Treatment requires months and sometimes years of therapy with many children who relapse facing five or more years of treatment. Even with insurance coverage, unexpected non-medical expenses add additional stress and hardship to the family budget. This is why Candlelighters focuses on practical, emotional, and educational needs of children wi

th cancer and their families. Houston-area Candlelighters families are eligible for our services, with priority given to families in need.

💛 WHY WE WALK 💛

There are moments in childhood cancer that change everything.

A diagnosis that stops time.
A treatment plan that quickly becomes daily life.
A new normal no family ever imagined or prepared for.

In an instant, everything familiar shifts—and families are asked to be strong in ways no one should have to be. In those moments, what matters most is not walking alone.

It’s knowing someone is beside you.
Someone is showing up.
Someone is carrying part of the weight with you when it feels too heavy to hold.

The Fun Walk exists for that reason.

To surround families impacted by childhood cancer with support, love, and community when they need it most. To remember the brave fighters who have earned their angel wings and will never be forgotten. To honor the survivors whose strength continues to inspire every step forward. And to stand with the siblings—who carry their own quiet courage through every high and every heartbreak.

🌟 May Volunteer Spotlight 🌟

This May, we had the privilege of having a very special volunteer with us! Hannah has been a longtime supporter of Candlelighters, generously giving her time at Fall Festival, family programs, and other events over the years.

Throughout the month, Hannah jumped in to help with a variety of projects and events, including our Clay Shoot, Fun Walk preparations, and numerous office projects. Her positive attitude, hard work, and willingness to help wherever needed made a tremendous impact, and we are so grateful to have had her with us!

This fall, Hannah will be entering her sophomore year at Auburn University, and we could not be more proud of all she is accomplishing. Thank you, Hannah, for your heart to serve and for being such a valued part of the Candlelighters family — we can’t wait to see all that’s ahead for you! 💛

Happy Birthday to our one and only Carly! 🎉💛

Carly is the kind of person who gives her whole heart to everything she does — her work, her people, and this mission. She is fiercely loyal, incredibly driven, endlessly creative, and always manages to make us laugh along the way!

One of the things we love most about Carly is her ability to make people feel truly seen and valued for exactly who they are. She shows up for others in big ways and small ways, stands strong in what she believes in, and brings compassion, support, and so much heart to our team and the families we serve.

Today, as we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, we are reminded of the importance of gratitude, compassion, and community. ❤️

Most importantly, we pause to honor and remember the brave veterans, service members, and fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Their courage, dedication, and selflessness will never be forgotten, and we are forever grateful for their service and sacrifice. 🤍

At Candlelighters, we are especially thankful for the strength of those who serve others every day — in our military, in our hospitals, and within our childhood cancer community. Wishing everyone a meaningful and peaceful Memorial Day as we reflect, remember, and give thanks. 💙

Earlier this week, Candlelighters had the privilege of gathering at Steak 48 Houston to honor and extend our gratitude to some of the incredible donors who help make our mission of walking alongside cancer families possible each and every day.

We are deeply grateful to our friends at Steak 48 for hosting such a beautiful evening and generously providing an unforgettable experience for our guests, and most specially, at no cost to Candlelighters. 🫶Thanks to this kindness and support, we were able to focus on what matters most: the Candlelighters mission and those who make that mission possible.

We also want to extend a very special thank you to Angela Daniels—Candlelighters Mom and cherished volunteer & champion for our cause—for courageously sharing about her son Henry’s cancer journey and giving such a personal glimpse into the impact of Candlelighters support. Your story touched every single person in the room and served as a powerful reminder of why this cause matters so deeply. 🎗Thank you for ALL the ways you support Candlelighters! 💛
