A sign will soon mark the future site of Stafford County’s newest fire and rescue station. Future Station 8, the Rockhill Fire and Rescue Station, will be located along Mountain View Road, near Willowmere Park. This new facility will unite current Fire Station 8 resources and the Rock Hill Volunteer Rescue Squad, under one roof. Groundbreaking is scheduled for spring 2025. https://staffordcountyva.gov/news_detail_T5_R916.php

Know how to safely respond to emergency vehicle traffic. Emergency vehicles include:

🚑 Ambulances
🚒 Firetrucks
🚓 Police vehicles

If you see an emergency vehicle with its lights and sirens on, approaching you from behind, you should:

✅ yield the right-of-way
✅ drive to the right-hand edge of or curb of the roadway clear of any intersection
✅ stop and remain still until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed.

Failing to follow these guidelines can cost you money and even jail time.

Remember, don't panic! Move to the right when it is safe to do so. If an accident occurs in front of an emergency vehicle enroute to it's initial call, it is required to stop and render aid. This delays life-saving care to the initial patient, as another, farther away unit has to be dispatched. Stay safe and mindful out there.

Back-to-School photos are sure to flood social media from families sharing before school pictures of their kiddos. Here are some friendly "Do's" and "Don'ts" from Officer Cash when making those adorable posts. 🙂

1. Avoid sharing the school name or grade level.
2. Don't share their teacher's name.
3. Don't share what their favorites are.
4. Hide or blur out school logos.
5. Avoid sharing their age and full name.

It's fun to share our special moments, but blur out sensitive information before posting to social media. Safety First! 👍💙

We appreciate the concern our community shows for their neighbors. This 4th of July (and every day of the year), please remember 9-1-1 is for life-threatening emergencies. For other concerns, please use the ECC non-emergency number, 540-658-4400.

Smokey is that you?

We know what you’re thinking…another post with some unbearable puns but bear with us. This morning, Garrisonville Fire Station 14 had a pawsitively unusual visitor, who continued on his or her way, bearly leaving a trace. Bear in mind that spring and early summer are especially active times for bears. Here are some pawsitively helpful tips if you see a bear from the NPS: https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/safety.htm
