ONE MILLION DOLLARS! This is truly an important opportunity to make a HUGE impact for brain cancer research. Please make a donation if you can. Better yet, sign up as a fundraiser. It's quick and easy, and the average person can get more than $500 in donations, just by telling their family and friends. Wouldn't you like to say you helped raise a million dollars for cancer research? :)
The Revlon Challenge that we are participating is a HUGE opportunity, not just for Dragon Master Foundation, but for the The Brain Tumor Avengers, Kid's Division. Our primary focus right now is funding Cavatica.org - a collaboration between more than 10 hospitals and at least that many foundations. It's an open access platform, meaning that it supports researchers from any institution. ANY INSTITUTION! What does that mean?
1. It means that whether they are working with adult data or pediatric data, they can use this platform to improve their research.
2. It means that they don't have to be part of some special collaborative to go in and work with the data. No "good old boys club" here.
3. It means that they can do their work in the cloud, so they are not dependent on their hospital's infrastructure.
4. It levels the playing field for data. Adult or pediatric, big hospital or small, everyone has access to a rich source of data to do research.
Right now, we are in beta testing. That means that it is functional, but there is still a lot of work to do. In order to fully serve both patients and researchers, we will always be adding data to the platform. We will always be making it better. There will always be more genomes to sequence and add. (After all, if you get sick, won't you want researchers to have access to YOUR data?) Our needs will be ongoing, but the time to give is RIGHT NOW! Right now, we have the chance to use your money to get a million dollar grant from Revlon. A million dollars! None of us have that kind of impact alone, but by working together, we can make it happen.
We know everyone has their own fundraisers. We know you have your own projects. But if you can direct even some small donations toward this one shared goal, we will all benefit.
We really want to thank The Minnick Family because they have their own initiatives that they normally support, but today, they supported this one. If you have a foundation, please reach out to us so we can share some ways that you can get involved. (We aren't tagging anyone because we don't want to put people on the spot, but please feel free to share!)
