This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC — no IWLA membership required!

Youth ages 16 & under will receive a FREE lunch and have the chance to compete for prizes. Adults are welcome to fish and eat as well, though donations for meals are appreciated! Please note: tackle is not provided.

Come enjoy Virginia Free Fishing Days with family and friends while learning about conservation and the joy of fishing. Whether it’s your first time fishing or you’re already an experienced angler, this is a great opportunity to get outdoors and have fun together!

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Richard “Dick” Haas — known to so many as “The Ancient One” or simply TAO.

For more than 85 years, Dick lived the ideals of Scouting. From his beginnings as a Cub Scout, to serving as a Scoutmaster, mentor, Wood Badge staffer, Roundtable Commissioner, and trusted friend, his commitment never wavered. He didn’t just participate in Scouting — he was Scouting for generations of leaders and youth.

A WWII Navy veteran, a man who once shook the hand of Lord Baden-Powell, and a living bridge to the very roots of our movement, Dick carried with him a lifetime of wisdom, humor, and servant leadership. Here in Aquia District, he faithfully shared that wisdom, helping guide and inspire countless Scouters and Scouts.

His legacy is not only measured in years, but in people — a remarkable four generations of Scouting within his own family, and countless more whose lives were shaped by his example.

At 99 years old, TAO remained what he always had been: a teacher, a mentor, and a reminder that a life of service is a life well lived.

We are better because of him. His impact will continue to ripple through Scouting for years to come.

Today, we celebrated Coco earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Coco earned her Eagle in December and is our third Eagle Scout.

The Troop is camping at the IWLA this weekend and started with a good breakfast, then conservation service before covering first aid for Cooking Merit Badge.

Interested in joining Troop 142G? We meet Tuesdays at 6:30pm at the IWLA Clubhouse, 2729 Garrisonville Rd., Stafford, VA. We do not meet as a Troop the last Tuesday of the month; our Patrol Leaders' Council meets on that Tuesday. Due to Spring Break, PLC is 24 March and our next meeting is 7 April. The first Tuesday of the month is also the parent meeting.

After a hearty breakfast, the Radioactive Gummy Bears took a hike to do some orienteering while the Manatee Mugshot Patrol built their pioneering project before going to a presentation on snakes.
