Day 2 of National Eye Donation Momth

THIS is what eye donation LOOKs like! 2 families living two separate lives that would be forever intertwined by an Earth Angel.

OUR Caleb’s larger than life personality & character so great that God would allow him to continue to light up the world. Since 2012, EYE have carried Caleb’s cornea and Caleb has carried me. EYE made a vow that the world would know his name.

He gave the gift of sight to two people and helped 39 others with through tissue donation. He was a mechanic, wood worker, lover of family, friends, Skittles and Cheez-Its amongst other things.

With each passing day EYE will share more of OUR story and the many ways Caleb has changed my life.

Please consider registering as an organ, eye and tissue donor at www.registerme.org

My sweet faced, Angel, THANK YOU! 🥰

February 6-12 is National . Did You Know? Donated skin helps heal and save the lives of burn patients.

When he was 18 months old, Jesiah was involved in a horrible accident that left burns over a large area of his body. He underwent a skin graft procedure to improve his quality of life. At the time, skin grafting procedures were still new and uncommon and he likes to think his story helped inspire and encourage the medical community. In Jesiah’s faith tradition, he believes that when you give to others out of the kindness of your heart, you will be blessed with much more than you can even imagine. There are not much greater acts of kindness than to give the gift of life to another.

Jesiah's transplant allowed him to live a normal life through high school, playing sports and attending school dances. He later started a family of his own, and now dedicates his life to his faith by showing his love in his community. Jesiah encourages others to seriously consider becoming an organ, eye, or tissue donor because the investment of life in others is one of the greatest testaments to our own humanity. 💙💚

💙💚 It’s always good to SEE organ donation and transplantation get recognition on any platform!

Long renowned as an interpreter, she has quietly built a catalog of her own. Up for song of the year on Sunday, she talked about her nominated track, “Just Like That,” and a lifetime onstage.

Today we honor the life, legacy and accomplishments of Ray Charles.

“He gradually began to lose his sight and by 7 years of age Ray Charles was blind. Although it is presumed that untreated glaucoma was the cause, no official diagnosis was ever made. His mother refused to let him wallow in self-pity however and since the sight loss was gradual, she began to work with him on how to find things and do things for himself. Ray Charles was accepted as a charity student at St. Augustine's school for the deaf and blind, where he learned to read Braille and to type. Having started to play the piano at five, Ray was allowed to further develop his great gift of music at the school, learning alto saxophone, clarinet, trumpet, and organ.”

In recognition of Black History Month, we honor the legacy of Dr. Patricia Bath.

Born Nov. 4, 1942 - Died May 30, 2019

Dr. Patricia Bath invented laserphaco, a new device and technique to remove cataracts. It performed all steps of cataract removal: making the incision, destroying the lens and vacuuming out the fractured pieces. Bath is recognized as the first Black woman physician to receive a medical patent.
