Safety means so many things. It's freedom from violence. It's personal autonomy. It's being able to make your own choices, and live free from all kinds of harm. We know that environmental issues lead to more violence and struggle for all, and lead to an increase in gender-based violence as resources become scarcer. Studies even show that sexual violence doesn't only increase during natural disasters, but that it's even perpetuated by some people who enter disaster zones to assist survivors.
This , our wish is that everyone, everywhere be safe, healthy, and able to thrive. May we continue to work to make it so.
๐ World Environment Day ๐ฟ
A safe environment is more than clean air and green spacesโitโs a world free from violence, where survivors of abuse can heal without fear.
On this day, letโs remember:
โ
Healthy communities require safety, equity, and support for all.
โ
Victim advocacy is environmental justice.
Letโs protect both people and the planet.
