It’s Throwback ThursPLAY! (See what we did there? 😉)
We’re continuing our series highlighting some of our Alumni’s best plays throughout the decades!
On May 12, 1986, the Blues faced the Calgary Flames in Game 6 of the Campbell Conference Final, with their season on the line and Calgary leading the series 3–2.
Down 5–2 with less than 10 minutes remaining in the third period, the Blues fought their way back to tie the game and send it to overtime.
Then, at 7:30 of the FIRST overtime, Bernie Federko started the rush, Mark Hunter and Doug Wickenheiser took off on a 2-on-1, and after Wickenheiser’s initial shot was stopped, he buried the rebound to give the Blues a 6–5 victory.
The comeback became known as the “Monday Night Miracle” — one of the most unforgettable moments in Blues history. 💙
