This weekend was spot on August is a heavy month for a many of our grieving families. We laughed, cried and broke bread in harmony. This event focused on each aspect of our daily struggles.

On behalf of the Cary On The Ball Inc. we would like to everyone in the community who came out to the Welcome Back to School Give Back it was a great pleasure to be able to serve the community. Together we were able to give away over 180+ book bags and school supplies to the children. Everyone who came out had a great time the kids ate, player, laughed and received some resources. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this day possible.

Our Goal Was 200 Kids So That Was A Great Start

Marielle Franco was a rare blend for Brazilian politics: a black le***an feminist, a human rights activist, and one of the most potent voices against police brutality in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. She was killed in a drive-by shooting. Rio’s police killed 1,275 people from 2010-2013, and it’s known as a violent police force worldwide. It was responsible for one in every five killings in the city in 2015, and the majority of the victims of its operations continue to be young black men. Many of these killings may amount to extrajudicial executions, a crime under international law. Changing this situation and making the favelas safer for its residents were some of Franco’s goals. Just hours before she was killed, she tweeted, “How many others will have to die for this war to end?”
