Sherwood Forest We help kids discover the best in themselves so they can grow up to do good in the world! Sherwood Forest is so much more than “just” a camp – it changes lives!

Our programs are anchored in a month-long summer camp experience, but as a year-round youth development organization, Sherwood Forest offers both experiential adventures and evidence-based programs that reinforce and support school-year learning. In doing so, Sherwood Forest connects with, educates, and inspires the youth of St. Louis. Sherwood Forest offers an environment of acceptance, support, self-discovery, and learning like no other. At Sherwood Forest, kids cultivate their individual interests and talents, immerse themselves in nature, and develop important life skills such as teamwork and responsibility. Over 80% of the kids Sherwood Forest serves come from families living at or below the poverty line. Sherwood Forest provides comprehensive, year-round, year-after-year enrichment programs that many of these families could otherwise not afford. The supportive, stable environment provided by Sherwood Forest has a long-term impact: 100% of kids who complete our Leadership Training Program go on to graduate from high school. Over the last 35 years, three-quarters of the Leadership Program alumni have gotten back in touch with Sherwood Forest, and 94% are now living economically self-sufficient lives. This creates a stronger community for all of us.

Since 1948, Sherwood Forest has partnered with schools across the St. Louis region to bring education outdoors. We recently celebrated an incredible milestone with Clayton School District, who has been joining us at camp for 75 years of team building, high ropes, and hands-on learning in a classroom without walls!

Want to bring your school or youth organization to camp? We offer customizable 2 to 5-day Outdoor Education experiences designed for 5th–8th graders to build confidence, independence, and social-emotional growth. Contact [email protected] or visit the link below to learn more!

We recently celebrated our newest Leadership Training Program graduates! Many have been with us since 4th grade, sharing how camp helped them grow, try new things, and build lasting connections.

Next, they enter Supports for Success to prepare for life after high school, whether that’s college, career, or vocational training.

Thank you to our staff, volunteers, donors, and families for supporting our campers every step of the way. Here’s to their bright futures!

Thanks to your overwhelming generosity, our Building Character & Community Through Campfires campaign raised nearly $105,000, blowing past both our original goal and our bonus goal!

Because of you, St. Louis youth will continue to have a place to build confidence, make lifelong friends, and experience the transformative power of camp.

To everyone who donated, shared, and cheered us on — thank you so much!
