CyberUp

CyberUp Our mission is to cultivate the cybersecurity talent pipeline. CyberUp's mission is to cultivate the talent pipeline for today and tomorrow.

We do this from both a short and a long-term approach. Our adult and youth programs are changing how the country is preparing its cyber workforce. Apprenticeship - CyberUp's nationally recognized apprenticeship program provides training and career placement opportunities for non-traditional candidates. The program also provides companies looking to increase their workforce a proven partner and mod

el to ensure a low cost, low risk, and faster way to hire skilled talent. PowerUp Cyber Games - CyberUp has launched a virtual cybersecurity competition for middle and high school students. We have partnered with the National Cyber League and Cyber Skyline to create a pipeline of competitions that starts basic and graduates to a work-ready skills developer.

The NICE Conference is always a valuable opportunity to connect with peers from across the country, learn about the trends shaping cybersecurity, and strengthen our efforts to build the workforce needed to protect our networks.

This year’s conversations covered a wide range of topics, from quantum computing to mental health and burnout. AI was a major theme throughout the conference, but what stood out most was the optimism around the future of the cybersecurity workforce.

These conversations are a reminder that the cybersecurity workforce does not grow in isolation. It grows through shared ideas, strong partnerships, and people who are willing to keep building new pathways into the field.

We were also proud to see one of our amazing volunteers and trainers, Rhonna Novy, present to a group of educators about her experience navigating the current hiring landscape. Rhonna did an incredible job, and we are honored to be part of her journey.

We left NICE with high-potential ideas, new connections, and a renewed focus on helping more people LevelUp in the cybersecurity ecosystem.

Employers want cybersecurity experience. Career changers need a cybersecurity position to gain it.

Apprenticeship helps close that gap.

CyberUp graduates are not starting from scratch. They bring strong transferable skills, real-world professional experience, and the critical thinking needed to grow into cybersecurity roles.

Many come from industries like the military, nursing, teaching, hospitality, finance, and other career fields where communication, adaptability, problem-solving, and accountability are already part of the work.

Apprenticeship gives employers a structured way to connect with prepared talent, evaluate skills in real work environments, and build their cybersecurity workforce over time.

You can earn CEUs while helping students build safer online habits.

CyberUp is looking for volunteers for PowerUp, our youth program that teaches students practical online safety skills while introducing them to cybersecurity career paths.

Whether you are a cybersecurity professional, apprentice, alumni, or someone building your career in the field, your perspective can help students understand how to protect themselves online and see where those skills can lead.

Eligible volunteers may also earn CEUs for their time and involvement.

Today, we celebrate Amber Lowry on her 10th anniversary with CyberUp!

For the past decade, Amber has helped keep CyberUp focused, organized, motivated, and moving forward. She is the person who notices the details, keeps communication flowing, helps the team stay aligned, and makes time to support the people around her.

What makes Amber’s leadership so meaningful is the way she cares for each person individually. She is thoughtful, intentional, and deeply attentive to the details that others might overlook. Whether she is guiding a major project, supporting a team member, or making sure the smallest pieces are handled with care, Amber brings clarity, purpose, and excellence to everything she does.

Her calm and steady leadership helps CyberUp continue raising the bar across our programs, our team, and the communities we serve.

A huge thank you to Amber for 10 years of leadership, care, and commitment. We are grateful for the way you keep the team connected and the mission moving forward every single day!

Today we’re celebrating an incredible milestone. Congratulations to Kyauna Campbell on 5 years with CyberUp!

If you’ve ever met one of our candidates, chances are you’ve also seen Kyauna’s impact. She brings so much heart, patience, and determination to everything she does. Whether it’s a late-night call, words of encouragement when someone is struggling, or the kind of tough love that helps people push through self-doubt, she always shows up for our candidates.

Kyauna is a huge reason so many of our training candidates not only complete the program, but go on to build successful careers in cybersecurity. She believes in people, even when they don’t fully believe in themselves yet.

Beyond that, she brings such a positive outlook to our team and is always ready to tackle whatever challenge comes next. We’re grateful for her leadership, her energy, and the care she puts into this mission every single day.

Thank you, Kyauna, for 5 amazing years. We’re lucky to have you on the team!

Success in cybersecurity does not happen all at once. It is built through curiosity, persistence, practice, and the right support along the way.

For Jessica Lee, CyberUp’s apprenticeship pathway gave her the opportunity to turn classroom learning into hands-on cybersecurity experience. As she stepped into the work, she began building the skills needed to analyze information, understand customer needs, ask stronger questions, and grow more confident in her role.

Like many people starting a new career path, Jessica had to adjust to unfamiliar tools, terminology, and expectations. Instead of letting that uncertainty stop her, she kept learning, accepted feedback, and used each new challenge as a chance to improve.

Her story is a reminder that career growth is not just about technical skills. It is also about confidence, resilience, and having access to opportunities that help people prove what they are capable of.

Congratulations, Jessica. We are proud to be part of your cybersecurity journey.
