We're shaking our maracas today to honor Claire Soete's decades of service to children with hearing loss. Claire (front row, center) is retiring from her position as intake coordinator for CID's Joanne Parrish Knight Family Center. She is known for shaking a maraca every time a family decides to trust their child to CID - because she knows the child will now get all the specialized services they need to learn to listen, talk, learn, grow and thrive.

We'll miss you, Claire!

Today is a very special day!

Congratulations to all 13 2026 graduates of the Anabeth and John Weil Early Childhood Center and the Virginia J. Browning Primary School and their families. Each child delivered the "gift of speech" at our commencement ceremony this morning. We were thrilled to hear the excitement in your voices as embark on your next adventures.

We will miss you all. We feel privileged to be part of your family's journey.

Our professional development team recently digitized some of CID's popular niche rating forms for use by early childhood educators.

To better support the professionals who make communication and learning possible every day for students with hearing loss, we’ve updated a few of our current Rating Forms into DIGITAL forms.

These offer a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. They are our same trusted forms, now designed to be completed on your computer, tablet, or phone. They also allow easy digital saving, less paperwork, and access anytime, anywhere.

Congratulations to esteemed CID benefactors and board members Anabeth C. and John D. Weil. Each accepted an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts degree at Washington University in St. Louis during its 165th Commencement on May 15.

Anabeth, a longtime philanthropist, is a former executive for Forest Park in St. Louis. John is an investor, philanthropist and emeritus trustee for the university and a force behind creating the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. Together they are, of course, the namesakes of CID's Anabeth and John Weil Early Childhood Center. Their contributions to CID and the wider community are extensive.

The Weils shared the stage with five other honorary degree recipients, including a famous commencement speaker, Emmy Award-winning host, producer and author Andy Cohen from St. Louis, whose family's Wash U degrees span decades.

The university also bestowed roughly 3,400 academic degrees on undergraduate, graduate and professional students in the Class of 2026.

From riding a golf cart to inspecting the Jaws of Life and the inside of a fire truck, an emergency paramedic vehicle, a police helicopter and more, CID Transportation Day was so much fun! Thanks to everyone who contributed to an amazing day.
