The Sliced Pint Brings Inventive Pizzas and Local Beers to Washington Avenue
Amy and Amrit Gill’s Latest Creation Puts a St. Louis Spin on the Beloved “Pizza and Beer” Pairing

Developers Amy and Amrit Gill recently opened The Sliced Pint Tap & Pizza, a buzzy new spot boasting creative twists on the traditional pizza. The restaurant, located at 1511 Washington Avenue on the ground floor of the Eastbank Building, serves signature and specialty pies as well as 80 beers (with 36 on tap).

“There is something inherently fun and social about grabbing a beer and sharing a pizza, and The Sliced Pint makes a great lunch or dinner option for the businesspeople, families, tourists, and convention-goers who frequent Washington Avenue,” said Amy Gill. In fact, there is even a back entrance to the restaurant - just 40 steps from the front door of City Museum!
“We want to put the spotlight on local food, local beer, and local artists,” added Gill. And, you couldn’t get more “local” than The Sliced Pint - especially when any pizza can be served stuffed with toasted ravioli!

Co-general managers Joe Wicks and Chris Hart show their creative side by serving up a dozen signature pizzas named after rock bands, naming two of the restaurant’s signature pizzas after local bands, including The Urge and Greek Fire. (The Urge is topped with sliced pork steak, and the Greek Fire features Garlic oil, gyro meat, red onion, black olive, feta, and is topped with diced cucumber, tomato, and a drizzle of tzatziki.) Guests can also build their own pizzas from a wide array of toppings, sauces, cheeses, and crusts. In terms of local beer, Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, Perennial, Mark Twain Brewing Company, 2nd Shift, and O’Fallon beers are in heavy rotation at The Sliced Pint. The works of St. Louis painter Fern Taylor and Muny set artist Andy Cross adorn the walls, with the work of many more local artists to come.

Gill, along with her husband Amrit, also owns Restoration St. Louis, the firm responsible for such development projects as the Moolah Theatre & Lounge, Coronado Place, O’Shay’s Pub in The Grove, and Holiday Inn Route 66. The couple is also renovating the spectacular Union Trust Building at 705 Olive Street; by Summer 2018 this space will be Hotel St. Louis, a luxury boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and restaurant. Hotel St. Louis will be part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection.

After a successful soft opening, The Sliced Pint is now open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Claudia Hommel and Elizabeth Doyle

Presented by THE PRESENTERS DOLAN

Cabaret

Event Location:

The Emerald Room Cabaret

YOUR TICKET TO PARIS

Did you miss going to France for Bastille Day?

The Alliance Francaise de St. Louis and The Presenters Dolan invite you cordialement to The Emerald Room at the Monocle on Saturday, July 16, for “Your Ticket to Paris.” One night only! 8 PM. An evening of popular French songs and good cheer inpsired by the continuing Bastille Day weekend.

With raves from the Lapin Agile in Montmartre to Ravinia’s “Rising Stars”, Paris-born Claudia Hommel partners with singer-pianist Elizabeth Doyle to transport you to the City of Light. Let our Chicago-based guides bring you favorites from the poetical to the personal (C’est Si Bon, La vie en Rose) to the unexpected (Pinching Pennies in Paris, Le Soleil et La Lune, Parlez-Moi d’Amour, Belleville Rendez-Vous).

CLAUDIA HOMMEL. Singer-actor-coach and producer, a favorite from the Art Institute of Chicago to the Lapin Agile in Paris, Claudia specializes in concerts and cabaret shows of French chansons, art songs, and American Songbook standards. She tours nationally and to Europe playing concert halls, clubs, theatres, museums, schools and special events. Her ensembles and projects include the crossover Jazz Fauré Project; SongShop weekly workshops in song interpretation, Vocal Canvas concerts, co-directing Singers Workshops in Paris, and offering French-based school programs. She is a co-founder of the Chicago Cabaret Professionals and member of the actors’ unions for stage, film and television. The Maison Clobert label has produced her five recordings— www.cabaret-paree.com.

From the Ravinia audience: “Claudia is such a brilliant singer and her interpretations of the songs she chose is amazing. She looked like she was having as good a time as the audience. I am very picky in regards to the versions of Josephine Baker and Edith Piaf I like to listen to and Claudia is one of the few vocalists I think does justice to their songs. We would come back in a Parisian minute."

The magnet for many years at Chicago's famed Pump Room, singer-pianist-composer ELIZABETH DOYLE has created, performed in and often music-directed an array of shows at Chicago's major cabaret rooms and theatres. A featured guest on Marian McPartland’s NPR program Piano Jazz, Doyle’s compositions have been featured in New York ASCAP programs, at the Paradiso in Amsterdam and at Disney/ASCAP in California. Her musicals include Sleepy Hollow, Fat Tuesday, Alice in Analysis, The White City, Treasure Island, and Duo, performed at Steppenwolf Theater. She has two CDs, Elizabeth Doyle and Time Flies. www.elizabethdoylemusic.com. "Elizabeth Doyle is one of Chicago’s most captivating performers," NPR Piano Jazz. The July 16th performance marks Doyle’s St. Louis début.
