The Sliced Pint Brings Inventive Pizzas and Local Beers to Washington Avenue
Amy and Amrit Gill’s Latest Creation Puts a St. Louis Spin on the Beloved “Pizza and Beer” Pairing
Developers Amy and Amrit Gill recently opened The Sliced Pint Tap & Pizza, a buzzy new spot boasting creative twists on the traditional pizza. The restaurant, located at 1511 Washington Avenue on the ground floor of the Eastbank Building, serves signature and specialty pies as well as 80 beers (with 36 on tap).
“There is something inherently fun and social about grabbing a beer and sharing a pizza, and The Sliced Pint makes a great lunch or dinner option for the businesspeople, families, tourists, and convention-goers who frequent Washington Avenue,” said Amy Gill. In fact, there is even a back entrance to the restaurant - just 40 steps from the front door of City Museum!
“We want to put the spotlight on local food, local beer, and local artists,” added Gill. And, you couldn’t get more “local” than The Sliced Pint - especially when any pizza can be served stuffed with toasted ravioli!
Co-general managers Joe Wicks and Chris Hart show their creative side by serving up a dozen signature pizzas named after rock bands, naming two of the restaurant’s signature pizzas after local bands, including The Urge and Greek Fire. (The Urge is topped with sliced pork steak, and the Greek Fire features Garlic oil, gyro meat, red onion, black olive, feta, and is topped with diced cucumber, tomato, and a drizzle of tzatziki.) Guests can also build their own pizzas from a wide array of toppings, sauces, cheeses, and crusts. In terms of local beer, Urban Chestnut, 4 Hands, Perennial, Mark Twain Brewing Company, 2nd Shift, and O’Fallon beers are in heavy rotation at The Sliced Pint. The works of St. Louis painter Fern Taylor and Muny set artist Andy Cross adorn the walls, with the work of many more local artists to come.
Gill, along with her husband Amrit, also owns Restoration St. Louis, the firm responsible for such development projects as the Moolah Theatre & Lounge, Coronado Place, O’Shay’s Pub in The Grove, and Holiday Inn Route 66. The couple is also renovating the spectacular Union Trust Building at 705 Olive Street; by Summer 2018 this space will be Hotel St. Louis, a luxury boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and restaurant. Hotel St. Louis will be part of Marriott International’s Autograph Collection.
After a successful soft opening, The Sliced Pint is now open for lunch and dinner. The restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
