Our Little Haven

Our Little Haven We are relentlessly committed to providing early intervention services for children and families. We are Caring for Children and Families. Mind. Body. Soul.

We serve the young child impacted by abuse, neglect, and mental or behavioral health needs through a suite of programs all designed to offer and facilitate early intervention. We offer mental health treatment to children during their formative years, coupled with treatment and support services for the entire client family.

As we close out Mental Health Awareness Month, we wanted to share a special video highlighting the importance of accessible mental health care.

This video was produced by FOCUS St. Louis as part of the 2026 What’s Right with the Region Awards and was shown during the awards ceremony honoring this year’s Community Changemakers. We are proud to share the portion featuring Dr. Lizette Smith, Director of Clinical Programs at Our Little Haven and one of this year’s honorees.

In the video, Dr. Lizette speaks about a cause that has guided her work throughout her career: ensuring that mental health care is equitable, accessible, and available to all who need it. She shares the importance of addressing the mental health needs of individuals and families in underserved communities and empowering them to achieve greater well-being.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we are reminded that mental health matters every month of the year. Together, we can continue working toward a future where every person has access to the care, support, and opportunity they deserve.

Congratulations again, Dr. Lizette, and thank you for being a champion for mental health and for helping make the hurting stop, the healing begin, and the love last, one child and family at a time. 💙

At Our Little Haven, every helping hand matters.

Every day, children, families, caregivers, clinicians, supporters, volunteers, and community partners come together to create healing, hope, and lasting change.

We’ve seen children find confidence after difficult beginnings. Families discover support when they felt alone. Caregivers, therapists, psychologists, nurses, maintenance and support staff, administrative teams, donors, volunteers, and advocates all working together to help make healing possible.

At Our Little Haven, healing happens through connection. Through early intervention. Through people showing up for one another in big and small ways.

Whether you’ve trusted us with your care, dedicated your work to serving children and families, supported our mission, shared our story, volunteered your time, or given to help a child thrive - you are part of this impact.

And the most meaningful part? The impact reaches far beyond our walls - into homes, schools, families, and futures across our community.

Thank you for being part of the journey. Together, we make the hurting stop, the healing begin, and the love last, one child and family at a time.

At Our Little Haven, we believe mental health matters every single day.

In a world that can feel overwhelming, having a space to slow down, be heard, and feel supported makes all the difference. What works for one person may not work for another, and that’s okay. The path may look different for everyone, but we all deserve

A warm welcome to our St. Joseph’s Academy seniors - Lucy, Sophia, Cailyn, and Kate - as they begin their Senior Service Project at Our Little Haven!

Over three weeks, these young women will dedicate 84+ hours to serving our community - living out St. Joe’s mission of caring for “the Dear Neighbor without distinction.” We’re grateful they’ve chosen to spend this meaningful time with us.

They’re working alongside Brittany, our Director of Development, learning about and supporting fundraising efforts, and organizing systems that help our team run more effectively. From behind-the-scenes projects to real-world experience in the community, their work will directly support the children and families we serve.

We’re so excited to have them here and appreciate the kindness, energy, and fresh perspective they bring. Every journey of service starts with a single step - and we’re grateful they’re taking it with us 🤍

Stay tuned to follow along on their time at Our Little Haven!

💙 Every step forward counts.

For a child, even the smallest milestone can be a big moment. A new skill. A little more confidence. A step toward healing.

At Our Little Haven, we walk alongside children and families through those moments every day, offering the care, support, and encouragement they need to keep moving forward.

Because progress doesn’t have to be perfect to be meaningful. It just has to begin. 💛

Another beautiful spring day at Our Little Haven 🌸 where healing begins and hope continues to grow.
