Louis, Missouri. MWC 2025 is hosted by the Weavers' Guild of St. The Weavers' Guild of St. Louis is hosting the Midwest Weavers Conference on the beautiful Washington University campus during the week of June 8 - 15 in 2025. This bi-annual conference is a regional event that typically gathers 300-350+ weavers/fiber artists for a week of classes, workshops, special speakers, a formal fashion show,
exhibitions and vendors. Our guild has hosted it several times over the decades, most recently at the SIUE campus in Edwardsville in 2001 and 2003. We are excited to host it again in 2025 as that will coincide with the year-long celebration of our guild's 100th anniversary. The theme of our conference is MAKING HISTORY which broadly relates to past, present and future "making" in the field of weaving and fiber arts, not only here in St. Louis but throughout the textile communities. The theme also honors the rich history of the St. Louis region from the days of the mound builders in Cahokia and days of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, the Gateway to the West and the exciting 1904 World's Fair. The theme also takes us full circle to our guild's origins in the 1920s in the weaving classrooms at the School of Fine Arts at Washington University. Those accomplished students left a legacy when they established the Weavers' Guild of St. Louis making it the second oldest weavers guild in the nation. Further expansion of the theme will recognize and celebrate the current "makers" attending the conference as well as the locally and nationally known artists/teachers/authors teaching the conference classes and workshops. The conference will host numerous exhibitions near the campus area. The Saint Louis Artists Guild will host a retrospective exhibit of artists from the Weavers' Guild of St. There will also be conference-related exhibits for our teachers, attendee's and our Keynote Speaker, Margaret Roach Wheeler. The conference will also include events and exhibits with Saint Louis Art Museum and Missouri History Museum.
