The future of the St. Louis workforce was sitting at these tables. 🍽️✨

Last week, our SLIP Students showed up and showed out at an etiquette luncheon, talking through their internships, their Career Pathways and the futures they are building one step at a time.

These are the moments that turn skills into confidence. Our Students are not just learning how to navigate a room. They are learning that they belong in it.

This is what Accountability looks like: young people committed to their growth and ready for what comes next.
We could not be prouder of these Students. The next generation of St. Louis talent is right here.

Hard work pays off. 💰🎓

Three of our own just earned $40,000 Best Buy Scholarships through our Pathways program, and we could not be prouder.

Congratulations to Bruce G. of Hazelwood West, Jahki G. of Hazelwood Central and Vinay K. of Francis Howell. These graduating seniors balanced academics, leadership development and career preparation, and they did it while gaining real workplace experience through the St. Louis Internship Program.

Now they are headed toward big futures. Bruce plans to study political science with his sights set on becoming a Supreme Court justice. Jahki is on the path to becoming a pediatric oncologist. Vinay is majoring in finance.

These scholarships lift a financial weight so these Students can focus on what matters: their goals. As Vinay put it, it means someone believes in him, and there is a community behind him.

That is exactly what Career Pathways are about. Connecting classroom learning to real career opportunity, and reminding our Students that St. Louis is rooting for them every step of the way.

To Bruce, Jahki and Vinay: keep striving. The future is yours.

⛳️ A Special Guest Joins Us on the Green

We are honored to welcome DeMaurice F. Smith to the 26th Annual Jim Butler Memorial Golf Classic.

A trial lawyer, business innovator, and former Executive Director of the NFL Players Association, DeMaurice spent nearly 15 years shaping the future of professional sports. He negotiated two 10-year labor and business agreements valued at over $100 billion, co-founded OneTeam Partners (now valued at over $2 billion), and established concussion health protocols that set industry standards across the game.

His career spans high-stakes courtrooms, boardrooms, and locker rooms. From prosecuting violent crime and terrorism cases as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Washington, D.C., to leading one of the most powerful unions in sports, DeMaurice has built a legacy rooted in advocacy, accountability, and leadership.

He is also the author of Turf Wars: The Fight for the Soul of America's Game, a sought-after speaker, and a guest lecturer at top universities and law schools across the country.

Now, he is bringing that same energy to St. Louis for a cause that matters.

Big things are happening for St. Louis teens. 🛠️🔬

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis and the St. Louis Internship Program (SLIP) have teamed up with St. Louis Community College to launch two paid summer internships putting Students on the path to high-demand careers in manufacturing and biotechnology.

Running June 8 through July 31, these eight-week, full-time programs give Students hands-on technical training, paid work experience, college credit and industry-recognized credentials.

MOST (Manufacturing Occupational Skills Training) opens doors in advanced manufacturing, engineering and the technical trades. Students can earn up to 10 college credits and four industry credentials, including OSHA 10 certification and the chance to test for the FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot license.

BOOST (Biotech Opportunities through Occupational Skills Training) introduces Students to biology, biomanufacturing, lab science and plant science, with the opportunity to earn five college credits and four micro credentials through the Bioscience Core Skills Institute.

As SLIP Executive Director Shanise Johnson put it, these internships give our young people more than technical training. They provide access, opportunity and a vision for their future.

This is what Career Pathways look like in action: Students earning credentials, gaining college credit and building confidence in the industries shaping the future of the St. Louis economy.

This is what showing up looks like. 🍽️✨

Last week, SLIP Students sat down with board members and community leaders for an etiquette luncheon, and the room was full of purpose.

Around these tables, Students talked through their internships, their Career Pathways and the goals they are chasing. Board members leaned in, shared wisdom and made one thing clear: this city is rooting for them.

That is Accountability in action. Leaders and Students showing up for one another, having honest conversations about what comes next.

To every board member and community leader who pulled up a chair: thank you. You invested your time, and it mattered.

Last week, SLIP Students pulled up a chair next to community members and board members for an etiquette luncheon, and it was everything. 🍽️✨

This was more than a meal. Students sat shoulder to shoulder with leaders from across St. Louis, talking through their internships, their Career Pathways and the futures they are building one step at a time.

That is what Accountability looks like in action. Employers, mentors and Students showing up for one another, having real conversations about what comes next.

These are the moments that turn skills into confidence. Our Students are not just learning how to navigate a room. They are learning that they belong in it.

Shoutout to every community member and board member who came out to invest their time and their wisdom. You showed up, and it mattered.

The future of the St. Louis workforce was sitting at those tables. We could not be prouder.
