❤️💙Today we recognize Juneteenth, a day that commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of freedom reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas which was more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued.

Juneteenth reminds us of the blessings of freedom and the dignity and value of every person as a child of God. As we reflect on this important day in our nation's history, we give thanks for the opportunities to learn from the past and to work toward loving and serving our neighbors.

🧹🧼We are so thankful to the Lutheran Church Extension Fund, LCEF volunteers who took on Green Park as a summer project for their team. Over 30 participants from LCEF worked vigorously on projects throughout the day. 🧽 They cleaned classroom windows, shades, flat surfaces, lights, cubbies/lockers, desks, and chairs. They also worked on cleaning and refreshing the bathrooms with a new coat of paint! Thank you to all who volunteered to help with this big effort to help us prepare for the upcoming school year 🙌

🛣️8th graders took their annual class trip right before graduation to Kansas City!

They had a blast venturing around town and went to 🎡🎢Worlds of Fun Theme Park, the National WWI Museum and Memorial, 🏀⛹️‍♀️The College Basketball Experience where they got to play hoops against their classmates and chaperones, 📚the Harry S. Truman Library & Museum where they did a Korean War Presidential decision room and topped it off with a 🏟️Kansas City Royals baseball game.

It was a whirlwind of bonding and celebrating their time together and they had so much fun with their last big experience as the Green Park class of 2026! 💚

🫟Full of color and full of excitement! 🤪 We celebrated our Chalk It Up campaign at the end of the year with joy, formerly white shirts now bursting with color, and some hilariously messy fun. We are so thankful for your support in helping us towards our goal. 🥳 Funds raised will go towards getting 30 padded Green Park branded folding chairs to enhance seating for community events, gatherings, and athletics.🤩

Thanks to all of our parent volunteers who helped keep a little bit of order in the ridiculous chaos that day! We can't do what we do without your help and dedication. 🫶

Continuing with our 8th grade recognitions, today we focus on Abby. Abby has been part of the Green Park family since Kindergarten. ✝️ Throughout her years here, she has built lasting friendships, grown in her faith, and been a dedicated member of both the classroom and athletic community. 🏀⚽️🏐

🏐🏟️Her favorite Green Park memories include playing volleyball, winning the State volleyball championship, and the 5th grade baseball game field trip. Abby’s advice to next year’s 8th graders is, “Turn in your homework on time and get good grades.” 📝

👟🌍Her favorite subjects are P.E. and World Geography. 👣👩‍⚕️Next year, Abby plans to attend Lutheran High School South and hopes to become an OB/GYN someday. Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9, and her favorite Christian song is “Together.”

👏Coach Baese shares, “Abby - My favorite thing about Abby is her enthusiasm for other people’s wins. Abby was the first person to cheer for her teammates on and off the court. In practice and in games, she was constantly building everyone up. She was our number one hype girl!" 🥳

Today in our 8th grade recognitions, we celebrate Hayden! Hayden has been part of the Green Park family since Kindergarten. 😊 Hayden is a valued member of the class, sharing his creativity, sense of humor, and unique talents with those around him.

🚌📍His favorite Green Park memory is visiting the Gateway Arch on a 2nd grade field trip. Hayden’s advice to next year’s 8th graders is simple: “Don’t forget to turn in your homework.” 📄📚

🎨👟His favorite subjects are Art and P.E.🧑‍🏭👷‍♂️Next year, Hayden plans to attend Lutheran High School South and hopes to become a welder or engineer someday. His favorite Bible verse is Revelation 2:10, and his favorite Christian song is “Onward Christian Soldiers.”

Today in our 8th grade recognitions, we celebrate Charlotte! 🖍️Charlotte has been part of the Green Park family since Kindergarten. Throughout her years here, she has been a dedicated student, teammate, and friend to those around her. 👏

🏐Her favorite Green Park memory is winning the state volleyball championship this year, and her advice to next year’s 8th graders is: “Don’t procrastinate on your homework and study for tests early.” 📚

⚕️💆‍♀️Charlotte plans to attend Lutheran High School South next year and hopes to become a therapist someday. Her favorite Bible verse is Romans 15:13.

💪Mrs. Waltenberger shares, “Charlotte leads by example through her determination, consistency, and kindness. She has been such an important part of this class, and it has been wonderful watching her grow both academically and personally over the years.” 🥰

We continue with our 8th grade recognitions as we turn our focus to Jacob! Jacob has been a valued member of the Green Park family since JK3 🥳

🚌 His favorite Green Park memory is the class trip, a time filled with laughter, fun, and memories that will last long after graduation. Jacob’s advice to next year’s 8th graders is simple but important: “Do your homework on time.” 📝

🔤🏛️Jacob’s favorite subjects are English Language Arts and History. 🔨🪚Next year, he plans to attend Lutheran High School South and hopes to become a carpenter someday. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7, and his favorite hymn is “How Great Thou Art.”

😊Mrs. Waltenberger shares, “Jacob has a thoughtful personality and a great sense of humor. He brings his own unique perspective to the classroom and has been an important part of this class.” 🙌
