Cameron recently visited us for his eye exam on the Mobile Vision Clinic. When he put his glasses on, he exclaimed, “It’s like a whole new world!” We all smiled when he also said he had the “best time ever" with the Eye Thrive MVC crew. Lookin' smart, Cameron!

Today is World Sight Day! Organized by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, this year's World Sight Day events and promotions are focused on the importance of children's health. At Eye Thrive, we wholeheartedly believe that addressing children's vision and eye health early and often will change the world, and applaud the IAPB and our friends at Prevent Blindness for all their efforts to improve sight for all people.

Eye Thrive will be at Julia Davis Library on Monday, October 5 with the Mobile Vision Clinic for an open community visit!

We'll be providing free eye exams and, if needed, glasses for children ages 4-18. Appointments beginning at 9:00 AM will be offered on a first come, first served basis and fill up quickly, so arriving early is recommended. An Eye Thrive team member will be on-site beginning at 7:30 AM to assign appointment times.

Important Notes:
- All services are provided at no cost.
- A provided consent form must be completed by a parent or guardian prior to service.
- Most glasses are made and dispensed on-site.
- Capacity on the Mobile Vision Clinic is limited and only patients are allowed on board.

This year’s Spectacle was nothing short of magical. The room was buzzing with energy and excitement as the Eye Thrive team, Board of Directors, partners, and friends gathered to celebrate and move Eye Thrive’s mission forward. The new venue truly matched the moment - what a scene!

We couldn’t be more appreciative of the folks that supported this event: sponsors, donors and guests. It was an honor to share everything we’ve accomplished over the last school year (like, more than 10,000 pairs of glasses dispensed between the Mobile Vision Clinic and our replacement program) and the real impact of our work on kids and families in our community.

Our why is wrapped up in each name and every smile.

By the end of the night, a total of $237,901 was raised - dollars that will translate directly into more smiles, more confidence, and clearer vision for more kids throughout the region. What an incredible testament to our community, our work, and the amazing potential of our kids.

For however you support Eye Thrive, we are truly grateful for you.

We promise we are *almost* done talking about Spectacle. Here's the thing, though. We have a BIG fundraising goal set so that we can provide our eye care to even more kids going forward.

Do you hear that screaming or is it just us? No? In that case, it must be Spectacle week! We're mere days away and can't wait to share all the fun things we've been working on, but had to take a time out to thank our incredible Visionary sponors, Paula and Rodger Riney. They're always in our corner, and believe in the important work we do to help kids thrive. Hip, hip, hooray to you!

Today's entry to the summer scrapbook is McKinsley. She missed out on her brothers' visit to the library, but when dad brought her for her eye exam the following day, our team was tickled pink when she chose these frames that had been waiting on board for just the right person to pick them out and take them home. It was the perfect choice!

We're just over a week away from our signature event, Spectacle and it's time to give a big shout out to our friends at Healthy Vision Association for their sponsorship. We're putting together our summer scrapbook and remembering how much fun we had rolling around town in the Mobile VIsion Clinic. We met our new friend Michael at the library for his first ever eye exam. He was a little nervous at first but, as you can see, his buddy Milo the Bunny gave him a boost of confidence and he ended up having a great time with our team.
