Several bills that would make Missouri the nation's 27th Right to Work state have been consolidated into one and sent to the House floor. The Senate is expected to take up the bill next week.
We believe this type of anti-worker legislation is wrong headed and punishes unions for their wide-spread support of Democratic candidates and policies. Government should be about leadership... not punishment.
Governor Greitens says his goal is to bring high paying jobs to Missouri. Right to Work means lower wages and fewer benefits for workers. How does this make sense?

We changed our cover photo recently because we just can't get enough of the ceiling in the Fine Arts Room at the Main Branch of the St. Louis Public Library. The intricate detailing in the plasterwork is nothing short of phenomenal. The center ring in this picture, along with a number of others like it, were completely missing when Niehaus Construction Sevices began their renovation work. Working from an original blueprint, Niehaus hired a sculptor to fashion the missing pieces out of clay. The clay was used to make a rubber mold which was then used to cast the plaster pieces to complete the process.
If that's not enough for you.... consider that this plaster ceiling is an exact copy of a wood-carved ceiling in a church in Florence, Italy!!
Kudos to the men and women at the Painters' District Council for always making our work look great!!
If you haven't seen the fully restored Main Branch of the Library downtown, do yourself a favor and do so. It's worth it!!

While we're on the subject of our pictures.... our "profile picture" is that of a column capital found at St. Anthony of Padua church at Meramec and Michigan. Lightning struck the roof of the church in the summer of 1994 causing extensive damage to the roof and ceiling.
No one believed the ceiling could be restored to its original "Romanesque" magnificence but we did. The members of Plasterers' Local #3 and Aardvark Construction restored the Southside landmark earning several architectural awards for their efforts.

On Tuesday, July 22, 2014 The Council of Construction Employers (CCE) hosted a seminar on Cyber Security at the Plumbing Industry Council.
Takeaways:
Cyber crime is common (think Target, Schnucks, etc.)
Mitigate risk by using firewalls and state of the art security devices and software. Always use the latest version of anti-virus software with auto-updating.
Consider using a dedicated, stand-alone desktop computer for online banking.
Make passwords a complex string of letters, numbers and characters.
Don't use "real" words or names in passwords.
Don't store passwords in Excel or Word. Download and use Password Management software.
If you have an Apple iOS device download the "Find My iPhone" app. If your phone or device is stolen, you can use another iOS device to find it and wipe it so thieves can't retrieve your personal information.
Thumb drives are easy to hack.
Before trashing or donating an old computer or copier, remove and destroy the hard drive.
