On Saturday, we dressed in costume, marched, sang, and demanded accountability from Ameren. Thank you to our numerous partners & friends who joined us for the people's parade and hearing.

Ameren recently proposed a long-range energy plan that includes delaying two coal unit retirements at its Labadie power plant, the deadliest in the country, by six years.
Ameren also proposes to invest its customers’ money in new gas-burning power plants to serve data centers. In August, the utility disconnected 12,449 residential customers for non-payment, just as families with children were preparing to return to school and months after Ameren CEO Marty Lyons received a $14 million raise.

Submit your comments opposing repealing the Roadless Rule by midnight tonight at sc.org/roadlessrule

The repeal of a 25-year-old regulation would open millions of acres of public land to road construction and logging. Local protections could spare Missouri’s forests, but natural environmental groups are still concerned.

🌾 Service Outing Reflection from Sierra Club - Eastern Missouri Group Outings Leader, David Nixon:

Despite a forecast predicting extreme heat, five dedicated Sierra Club members showed up ready to put in some sweat equity alongside Park Naturalist Erik Otto.

To prioritize safety, Erik designed a light work plan focused on well-shaded areas. As luck would have it, the morning stayed surprisingly cool, accompanied be a brisk breeze and dense canopy shade that made for a remarkably pleasant shift.

The crew spruced up the viewing platform and pavilion area by clearing surrounding brush and tackling several routine maintenance tasks. During the outing, Erik shared his deep knowledge of the park’s origins and highlighted the ongoing restoration work being done by park staff on the historic Don Robinson home.

A big thank you to the volunteers who came out to steward and learn about this beautiful local treasure!
