Every year, the members of the Spanish Lutheran Church gather for their Asamblea — their annual church conference. It is part-retreat, part-business meeting.

Working alongside LCMS Missionaries and members from the Spanish Lutheran Church, you will have opportunities to participate in the many ways God calls us to show mercy to others. You and the other volunteers on your team will be “all hands on deck” with preparation of logistics, running a program for children during the Asamblea meetings, set up, and take down.

Please note: Fluent Spanish speakers required for this opportunity! You need to be able to not only converse in Spanish but also teach in a Sunday school or VBS environment in Spanish.

The Rev. Dr. Christian Tiews was 40 years old when he first truly heard the Gospel during a service connected to his daughter’s Lutheran day care in Tomball, Texas. He and his wife, Gudula (Lula), joined the church, and eventually he studied to become an LCMS pastor.

Check out this reflection from a group with SD District LCMS that recently completed a short-term mission trip to Romania! The group of seven volunteers spent a week assisting with renovations at the Brașov Lutheran Outreach Center and supporting South Dakota missionaries Rev. Jordon and Alison Andreasen and their family.
