🎉 Calling all designers, creatives, students, and green building advocates! 🌿🖍️

As part of our 25th Anniversary celebration, Missouri Gateway Green Building Council is creating a 25 Years of Green Building Coloring Book — and we want YOUR drawing to be part of it! bit.ly/25GBcoloringbook

Submit a drawing of a green building located in MGGBC’s geographic area, which includes St. Louis Metro Area (MO & IL), central Missouri, southeast Missouri, and Southern Illinois.

We’d love to showcase your favorite building with a green certification (LEED, SITES, WELL, etc.) or one or more green attributes – such as sustainable strategies for materials, site & landscaping, water, energy efficiency, renewable energy, indoor environmental or air quality, among others. Need inspiration? Check out our website for lists of local buildings!

Whether you’re a professional designer/creative or just love to draw, all ages and experience levels are encouraged! Selected drawings will be featured in our coloring book celebrating 25 years of green building impact and innovation across our region.

Join us next Monday, October 20 @ 5:00pm – 7:00pm for our next Evening Program – Sustainable Advancements in Building Materials bit.ly/4n2pbzk

The St. Louis Art Museum’s East Building, designed by architect David Chipperfield Architects, opened in 2013. This monumental building, a construction achievement, is 12 years old. Like the original building, built for the 1904 World’s Fair, the addition was designed to stand for 100 years or more. Now more than a decade on, we thought it would be valuable to revisit the construction of this iconic project. In discussion with members of the 2013 project team and building material stakeholders, we will explore what new advancements in concrete and steel and construction techniques might be used if the addition was built today, given the industry’s greater focus on embodied carbon.

We’re excited to have members of the 2013 project team Julie Bauer of WashU's Sam Fox School, Anthony Alleman of Pepper Construction, Leif Johnson of StructureCraft, and Sam Klucker of Concrete Strategies, and leading embodied carbon and material experts Allison Johnson of HOK, Rusty Owings of AMRIZE and Sean Smith of New Millennium, joining us for the conversation.

Making your energy go further means doing more with less.

That’s what energy efficiency is all about: maximizing the power we already produce so it stretches further for families, businesses, and communities. From lowering utility bills to reducing strain on the grid, efficiency is the first fuel that keeps our energy reliable, affordable, and sustainable.

On , we’re proud to join the Alliance to Save Energy and partners nationwide to show how smarter energy use creates jobs, strengthens security, and builds a more secure energy future.

Join us on August 12 @ 5:00pm – 7:00pm for our next Evening Program – Data, Data Everywhere: Maximizing Sustainability in Data Center Development, Design & Operations in partnership with ASHRAE St. Louis Chapter and I2SL St. Louis Chapter. bit.ly/3U5X0nh

With the growth of cloud-based computing and the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), data centers are becoming the key critical infrastructure of our digital world. As entities race to develop data centers and secure resources and infrastructure needed to meet current and future demand, they are also having to grapple with the environmental impacts of its enormous energy and water needs. Reconciling the need to meet current demands with long-term costs, sustainability goals and local impacts can be challenging. Fortunately, innovations in computing technology, building systems, and renewable energy production for data centers have the potential to make this critical infrastructure more resource-efficient.

Come learn from industry experts John Weale of Introba, Jeremy Nolen of Farnsworth Group, Inc. and Erik Lueders of Mastercard, who will share their insights and experience about strategies for optimizing energy efficiency and reducing energy and water demand in data centers, while exploring challenges and opportunities.

Join us next Friday on May 30 for our upcoming virtual Green Building Break - Prefabricated Straw Bale Panel Construction – right here in Missouri!
bit.ly/GBB25-may30

Architect Adrienne Solwyck will join us to discuss the sustainability benefits and applications of prefabricated straw bale panel construction. A long-time straw bale construction enthusiast, Adrienne recognized the need for a less labor intensive way of building with straw after working on straw bale construction projects in Missouri, New Mexico, Utah, and her own backyard. In 2024 she and four co-owners founded Building Integrity (BI), LLC, Missouri’s first producer of prefabricated straw-insulated wall, floor, and roof panels.

Join us for an opportunity to learn about bio-based construction material innovation happening right here in Missouri!
