Colorectal cancer screening can do something especially important: some screening tests can find precancerous polyps before they become cancer.
The CDC recommends regular colorectal cancer screening beginning at age 45 for people at average risk. (CDC)
And here's something many people don't realize:
You may have screening options that don't require a colonoscopy.
Talk with your healthcare provider about which option is appropriate for you.

You remember Mom's appointments.
Dad's medications.
The specialist's follow-up.
The lab work.
The prescription refill.
The transportation.
But who's keeping track of your health?
Caregivers can become so focused on someone else's needs that their own preventive care gets pushed to the bottom of the list. Today, put one appointment for yourself on the calendar.
A wellness visit.
A screening.
A dental appointment.
A mammogram.
A vision check.
Whatever you've been putting off. Caring for yourself isn't selfish.

We are so proud of our team for helping their neighbors find new housing especially Brad, our Disaster Relief and Housing Specialist. Without his knowledge and coordination with our care managers we could not have been able to support our community so well.

Thank you to the Aging Advantage team and all of the hard work you do every day both seen and unseen.

You are rockstars!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month gives us an opportunity to talk about something that can be easy to put off: screening.
The USPSTF recommends that women ages 40–74 at average risk receive a screening mammogram every other year. For women 75 and older, the evidence is not sufficient for the USPSTF to make a general recommendation, so conversations with a healthcare provider become especially important.
Your age isn't the only thing that matters. Your personal history, family history, risk factors and previous screening results matter, too.
Don't guess your screening schedule. Ask your healthcare provider.
