We are passing along an email from our show's music director regarding singing auditions for Oklahoma. FYI, Facebook won't allow me to attach the sheet music for the 4 songs listed below, so if you would like a copy of it for auditions please email [email protected] and we will send you a copy of the music.
==================
As you know, auditions for Oklahoma! are right around the corner! The singing portion of the audition process will be a little different this year. Don’t worry—everyone’s favorite audition song, “Happy Birthday” is still a fan favorite and works great if you don’t have a formal song that you would like to sing for your audition.
In the event you would like to sing a specific song, there are a handful of options:
1. You can choose a song from the musical that will be accompanied by the piano. We have the sheet music for four suggested songs based on your range. If you don’t know your range—no worries! Just sing whatever song you feel comfortable with.
a. Soprano – Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin’
b. Alto (or Second Soprano) – I Cain’t Say No!
c. Tenor – Kansas City
d. Baritone – Pore Jud is Daid
2. You can also choose another song outside of Oklahoma! or outside of a musical in general. If you would like piano accompaniment, please send me the sheet music via email if you have it, or if you don’t have the sheet music just send me the song name and composer and I will do my best to find a copy (please email to [email protected] and we will pass it along to our music director).
3. You can use your phone to play the accompaniment on the song you are singing. No pressure—just look up your song online (without recorded vocals is preferred so we can hear your beautiful voice)—and use your phone as your own personal band.
4. You can rock it a ca****la style. Who needs instrumental accompaniment anyway? Just sing your heart out!
We are very excited to hear your amazing voices. If you are a little nervous in front of a group, don’t worry. This is a very low-pressure audition and your fellow actors/singers in the room will be your biggest fans. Just have fun and we look forward to seeing you!
Thanks,
Mike Miloshewski
