The proverbial "missing element" you've been working so hard to find is always in the last place you look...

πŸ‘‰ within πŸ‘ˆ

Remember your first job? What did you make? $5 / hour? $8 / hour.

Remember what it felt like to have $50 in your pocket? AMAZING!

Somewhere along the way $50 started to not be enough. Today it may not even be enough for dinner.

Maybe now you're making $100k, $150k, $250k, $1M a year.

Every one of those milestones was enough until they weren't. The goalposts are always getting moved back.

The predicament you're in is that if you continue to do what you've always done, you'll continue to get what you've always got.

What got you here isn't going to get you where you want to go. It didn't at $5 / hour and it's still not at $250k / year.

This is the definition of "insanity" thinking.

Success is only a part of the game but my hunch is what you really want is to πŸͺ‡ ENJOY 😎 your life.

You thought you could do that by becoming "somebody."

The real magic (and work) is becoming "nobody."

You totally get to keep doing what you're doing and you need to give anything up.

You just get to do it in a different way.

Having $1M is not the problem. It's the *NEEDING* it that causes suffering.

Would you rather escape from prison or spend every waking hour perfectly decorating your cell?

The latter is how most people live their lives. Content to follow collective norms and "do what you've been told/taught," by spraying painting our confinement in pretty pink paint.

Trust me, there is some ease and comfort chilling in a pretty pink prison cell. 3 squares a day and never worrying who has to pay the utilities.

The one thing you miss? FREEDOM!!!

This is what Carl Jung referred to as the individuation process. This is actually the path to optimal personal development.

Sorry kids, bio hacking is not gonna get you there.

But if you've never actually been free, how do you know what you're missing? Without context, you really don't know what you're missing and it takes a s**t ton of time and courage to escape.

In fact, one of the biggest dangers is that once you start filing off the bars of your cell you can never go back. Even the slightest whiff of freedom is enough to ruin prison forever and the sound of freedom is a bell that can never be unrung.

Do you know what parts of your life have imprisoned you? Probably not. Till we find someone to hold up a mirror we're all just fish swimming around without an understanding of water.

Among many other things, this is how I see most executives approaching the concept of .

With no intention of escaping their current prison, they're really just interested in building a more comfortable cell. Yet all the big screens, boats, and artwork will never make the bars go away and it takes a lot of energy to keep up appearances.

One of my favorite quotes from Anne Lamott is, "Everything I’ve ever let go of has claw marks on it."

***You want me to give up what!?!***
Good luck prying that out of my cold dead hands!

Personally, I don't think humans are consciously capable of letting things go anymore than we are able to forgive, surrender, or practice self-love in a vacuum.

We can point our focus in those directions but the minute we try and release something with our will, we're actually causing the opposite to happen. Clinging and aversion increase rather than decrease.

Then, what's even worse, is when every spiritual podcast and IG account tells us we just need to let go but we can't figure out how to do that, we punch ourselves in the face a second time because we've failed at the one thing everyone says will make us feel better.

The only thing that has ever helped me let anything go is to simply LET IT BE. To accept the situation just the way it is. When I decide I'm ready to not change anything, my claws retract and the thing I've been holding onto for dear life slips quietly out of my hand and consciousness.

This isn't a new philosophy, it's thousands of years old. It's just more important now because every supposed spiritual and psychedelic influencer keeps telling you to let s**t go and I'm sad for those of you who live in guilt and shame because you can't figure it out. You be you, boo!

There's nothing to figure out, dear reader. You've done nothing wrong. You make perfect sense. You're perfect and you're right on time.

Need help? Shoot me a msg. We can let it be together. There are super gentle ways to do this and it all starts with a single breath. β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ™β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

If insanity is doing the same thing and expecting different results, then sanity must be our ability to change our mind.

This is one of the fundamental reasons why psychedelics are so powerful. As Michael Pollan's book title clearly states, they help us change our mind.

I'd say 80% of the "suffering" clients I work with believe they have a chemical imbalance in their brain that requires medication.

6-12 months later, with a combination of coaching and psychedelics, most of them no longer carry that belief. Why? They changed their mind.

Sometimes do the healing all on their own with absolutely no human intervention necessary. That's a fairly small portion of the time but it does happen.

Usually, it requires some work on our part. We have a human body, a human mind, and a human process that requires human effort to change.

And often that change requires us to move out of our comfort zone; to try on new thoughts and behaviors.

So, if you are considering including psychedelics in your healing journey, try thinking of them as an opportunity rather than a guarantee.

While you're at it, maybe start thinking of them as a *practice* rather than a cure. Repetitive like meditation, just spread much farther apart.

And remember, expectations are the fastest path to a resentment.
