How are concerts free?

We are thrilled to be able to offer free concerts in our regular season performance schedule! This is through performing members' dues, grant awards and the donation support of our patrons.

At each of our regular season concerts, there is an empty case for audience members to donate for the purpose of offsetting our operating costs for the rental of rehearsal and performance spaces.

As plans for the 2026-2027 are already underway, we want to continue to be able to bring these events to the greater St. Louis area FREE OF CHARGE...and we need your help to make this happen :)

Please consider supporting our current fundraising goal of $1,500 through GiveStLDay on THURSDAY, May 7th! You can read about the great work that the St. Louis Community Foundations is doing on their website and donate directly to the Saint Louis Wind Symphony drive at the same time.

TOMORROW is Give StL Day!

THURSDAY, May 7th is the day to support local non-profit groups that you believe are doing good things and bringing good works to the greater St. Louis area. You can read all about their mission and explore affiliated nonprofits at the St. Louis Community Foundation website: https://www.givestlday.org/p/about .

We have an organizational fundraising goal of $1,500 to assist with our ongoing operating costs, current projects, educational outreach efforts, and new music commissions.

How much does our music cost for the regular season?

Consider that each of our regular season concerts last about an hour. Depending on the program's theme and length of the piece, that could be anywhere from 5-7 pieces.

Our shortest program in the 25-26 concert season was our January performance at the Missouri Music Educator's Association convention...which had 4 pieces on it. A crowd favorite, "The Fly" alone is about $211 USD!

While we do have some titles that we already own and can repeat, it is important that we bring high quality wind ensemble literature to the greater St. Louis area FREE of charge, which means that we need funds to make this happen.

Our current GiveStL Day online fundraising goal is $1,500, which would approximately amount to one new piece per concert cycle...in addition to the many other operating costs to make our wind ensemble vision a reality.

Please consider supporting our $1,500 fundraising goal TODAY through THURSDAY, May 7th in partnership with the St. Louis Community Foundation's annual GiveStL Day!

Who are you supporting when you donate to our GiveStlDay fundraising goals?

You are supporting all of the performing members, board members, conductors, and behind-the-scenes folks that keep our organization running.

Our current fundraising goal of $1,500 will help "keep the lights on" in terms of so many aspects of running our nonprofit.

Did you know that a single piece of music can range from $100-$400? Each of our regular season concerts (which average an hour in length) can include to t 7 pieces!

In addition to new music purchases (and borrowing or repeating selections), we remain fiscally responsible by seeking out affordable rehearsal and performances spaces while still upholding the standards of quality that we believe the local St. Louis area deserves.

Please consider supporting your favorite nonprofit performing arts group! Our direct donation link (and donation status meter!) is located HERE:

Happy STAR WARS DAY! And May The Fourth Be With You...

Did you know that there is a high quality arrangement of the original Star Wars trilogy music for wind ensemble? From windrep.org:

John Williams has rightfully earned a place in the hearts of all film lovers with his numerous brilliant scores to some of the best movies of the last half century. Capable of writing music ranging from tender, intimate moods to galactic battles, Williams carefully constructs each score as a separate, freestanding entity, not just background snippets. The selections in this 1997 collection include The Imperial March (Darth Vader Theme), Princess Leia's Theme, The Battle in the Forest, Yoda's Theme, and Star Wars® (Main Theme).

- Program Note from publisher

While we have not programmed this particular arrangement, it IS the caliber of quality and difficulty that the Saint Louis Wind Symphony brings to the greater St. Louis area FREE OF CHARGE on all of our regular season concerts.

Please consider helping support us during this year's Give StL Day online donation drive! We have a fundraising goal of $1,500 to fund our efforts and operations for the 2026-2027 season. The easiest way to donate (and track our fundraising progress) is to click here:
