I am so very proud of our Double S 4-H Floriculture members who were able to display and enter their very own daffodils that they planted and grew in the 26th Annual Greater St. Louis Daffodil Society’s Show !! Unfortunately, we had a rough start to our Spring with freezing temps that took out some of our daffodils and not all members had blooms to show.
Blake Krull, Madison Owens, Jasper Krull and Owen Krull ALL had winning ribbons as stated below.

Single stem entry: 1 - Honorable mention

5 stem entry: 1 - 1st place and “American Daffodil Society - Youth Exhibit Best Collection of 5 stems”

Youth Design: 1 - 1st place

🌼Madison Owens
Single stem entry: 2 - 1st place; 1 - 2nd place; and 1 - Honorable Mention

🌼Jasper Krull
Single stem entry: 1 - 1st place, 1 - 2nd place; and 1 - 3rd place

Youth Design: 1 - 1st place” and “Youth Design - Best of Greater St. Louis Daffodil Show”.

🌼Owen Krull
Single stem entry: 2 - 2nd place; and 1 - 3rd place

3 stem entry: 1 - 1st place, “American Daffodil Society - Youth Exhibit Best Bloom”, and “American Daffodil Society - Youth Exhibitor Best set of 3 stems”

Great job Double S 4-H Floriculture!!! Not bad for first year daffodil blooms. Excited to see it fill in an flourish each year greeting everyone as they enter Swiss from the North.

Our Double S 4-H club “Cat Care” project members met at the Hermann Library yesterday evening and had guest speakers - Kat Butterfly from “Show Me Sphynx Cattety” and Patricia Lloynd the TICA Great Lakes Regional Junior Exhibitors Coordinator and 3 special Sphinx kitty cats. The importance and reason we don’t recommend declawing cats was reviewed. The kiddos learned how to safely trim their cat’s claws, as well as cleaning their teeth and ears.

I own ShowMeSphynx Cattery and focus on raising emotional support animals for disabled veterans, first responders with PTSD and special needs children. I opened my cattery in 2018 after I retired from the Department of Natural Resources and Missouri State Parks. I have over 40 years experience owning and working with animals. My cat Venus is the number one Sphynx Alter in the world for 2025. Her daughter, Noelle, is the number 3 Sphynx Champion in the world for 2025. Several other Sphynx from the cattery are also International and Regional title holders in The International Cat Association (TICA),as well.

We had our first 4-H “Cat Care” project meeting at the Hermann Library with 5 members in attendance on January 13th. We watched a video on learning how kittens grow from 0-8 weeks by the “Kitten Lady”, reviewed our books and ended our meeting with a visit to the Hermann Crowned Cat Cafe’ where the kiddos enjoyed playing with the kitties and some even had a card game while there. Kit Kats were provided for a snack during the meeting🐈‍⬛
We hope to get more youth involved in learning about cats whether they are family pets or community cats outside. It’s never too late to join 4-H and sign up for fun and exciting projects.
We have lots of fun and exciting activities planned for our project this year as we join Ferals in Peril and see the great work they do in our communities.
High School students should look for a flyer soon at their school to sign up as the A+ program will also be a part of our community service and fostering of cats !!

We had an awesome day for our community service project today in Swiss, MO.

Double S 4-H Floriculture Project planned a community service project along the highway 19 fence line of David & Tracy Krull’s property as you enter Swiss from the North.

We had 6 4-H members along with parents / guardians who participated !!

We planted approximately 500 feet of daffodil bulbs!! The ground was soft from the recent rain and although a little cool, the sun was shining. Now we wait until Spring!!

Double S 4-H had another great Thanksgiving pie bake this year.

Thank You to Peters Orchards and Market for donating their HUGE delicious apples again!!

We would like thank each and everyone who purchased our pies !! We sold close to 90 (about 20 more than last year).

We were able to donate 30 pies to the Hermann Methodist church for their community Thanksgiving meal.

The 4-H members and our voluntees worked hard on this project and had a great time as well❤️🍀.

Pies are made by the members of the Double S 4-H Club at the St. George Catholic Church basement, in Hermann. Those that purchase a pie may pick it up from St. George on Wednesday, November 26th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
