Hello,
Many of you know that there has been some upset and confusion as to the Direction of the United States Prisoners Right Defense League. While the founder of this organization was in the St. Louis County jail, for reasons he will explain, there was a formal complaint relayed to the two people left running the organization. The claim, by a donor, is that money donated for the organization was not used for that purpose. The Chairman and founder of the organization has come out clearly and said those claims are inaccurate, and untrue.
As the Vice Chairman, of this organization, I have no knowledge of any monies received. My role here has been as an advocate for those in custody and their families. I have not had any access to, or knowledge of how the finances have made this organization run. Conversations with the Founder and Chairman, Chris, he informs me it is through his own financial contribution. I know that Chris has put a number of long hours in to the advocacy work he has provided for this cause.
I had expected to set the course of this organization to be set up in this mode:
• Each State would set up a Board of directors having each County in their State to have a seat. The State boards would be set up with a Chair, vice chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, this would comprise the Executive committee. The members would elect these people every two years, and the at large members would vote on issues that come before the board in a Democratic fashion. A self-sustaining entity, the State groups would, after being sure their entity had enough money to run successfully, put money into an account to be drawn on by other Chapters, as needed, including the National Chapter. The State Chapters would be responsible to handle matters for their State.
• The National Chapter would set up a Board of directors having each organized and recognized State Chapters State to have a seat. The National board would be set up with a Chair, vice chair, Secretary, and Treasurer, this would comprise the Executive committee. The members would elect these people every two years, and the at large members would vote on issues that come before the board in a Democratic fashion. A self-sustaining entity, the National group would, after being sure their entity had enough money to run successfully, put money into an account to be drawn on by State Chapters, as needed. The National Chapters would be responsible to handle matters for all Federal matters and issues pertaining to the Federal Department of Prisons or the Federal Government.
• Anyone can register the name United States Prisoners’ Rights Defense League. Currently if you have a State chapter, you should put together a Board, and register your name below are the links for your Secretary of State’s office. If you have questions, you should consult Chris.
Sadly, I am leaving the organization. Within 12 hours of this post, I will no longer be Vice chairman of USPRDL. For personal reason, I have made the decision to simplify things. I wish Chris luck moving forward.
