We start w/ youth, hoping that by developing good eating and exercise habits then, they will continue into adulthood. Starting a new program in the Pacific Southwest District of Optimist International, called the Childhood Wellness Campaign. We're hoping to expand this program to the entire Optimist International, beginning in July 2011. The program is designed to prevent diseases which are directly attributable to Obesity, such as Diabetes Mellitus.

New legislation has been proposed to meet the needs of at-risk youth as laid out by Zack Franet. Proposed by Senator Scott Wiener, this new legislation would help vulnerable youth in California between 16 and 26 find affordable housing after leaving foster care, homeless shelters, or the criminal justice system.
