Student-Worker Alliance is a necessary presence on campus! Including every Webster University campus!

This time three years ago, ine 22017, the Webster SWA protested the corporate co-optation of a "diversity and inclusion" agenda by wearing red armbands and handing out flyers (see our Cover Photo) at the annual Diversity and Inclusion Conversation. Many of our members had helped organize it and some were discussants. They wore their red protest armbands to the podium. We were NOT protesting diversity and inclusion, only fake diversity and inclusion to serve a union busting agenda. We knew about this from leaked internal documents, if we hadn't guessed already. Isn't Divide and Rule, what the British did to India, the oldest trick in the Boss's playbook?

Let's reorganize the Webster SWA. The World's Greatest Academic Sweatshop needs our constructive criticism now more than ever!

Strength Through Unity! Strength Throudh Truth!

The Webster SWA is open to all students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members who support better pay, job security, and working conditions for all.

"If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected--the right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, to the organization and joining of unions, to private property, and to economic initiative."

Tuesday May 23 meet up / office hours 1:30-3:30, Webster University Library Cafe, and Friday May 26 4-5 PM at Meshuggah's Coffee House on the Delmar Loop, to discuss Webster SWA and inter-SWA planning for next year, specifically how to coordinate our Webster Living Wage campaign with the one at Wash U and support for the adjuncts at Webster and everywhere, working with SEIU's Faculty Forward union. We are delighted that Faculty Forward will be taking up the cause of full time lecturers at Wash U! Please let them take up that cause at Webster and everywhere!

Please "like" the Webster Student-Worker Alliance (SWA) if you have not already done so. Please follow us on Twitter and send us an email at our address, [email protected]. We have been meeting every week since May 2016 and have had several actions so far--, a banner drop in the middle of the summer, two well attended and publicized marches on the Webster Groves campus in autumn 2016, a march with the Washington University Student Worker Alliance - SWA and Socialist Alternative St. Louis on the Wash U campus to protest Trump;s inauguration, and our contribution to St. Louis Faculty Forward's Campus Resistance event on March 1-2 2017: flyering at the Webster forum on "Embracing Diversity and Inclusion." We organized autonomously but soon will be coordinating with the SEIU Faculty Forward campaign to organize Webster adjuncts and the UNITE HERE! campaign to organize the food service workers at Webster.
