LESS THAN 48 HOURS AWAY FROM VACANT TO VIBRANT: ETZEL AVENUE EDITION

On Etzel Avenue, we have the opportunity to flip one more unit — turning a vacant property into a home.

This Wednesday, for just 24 hours, Cornerstone STL will host our annual giving campaign — our call to action in the face of St. Louis’ growing rental housing crisis. What used to be an example of extreme hardship — having to choose between food and shelter — is now the baseline reality for many.

But we have a chance to make a tangible difference. A modest four-bedroom home on Etzel is ready to be restored for a family in need. With rising costs for, well, everything, we’ll need your help once again to keep it affordable.

Together, we can raise $90,000 this week to turn a vacant home into a vibrant one while keeping rents low for the West End.

**Updated Application Deadline: Sr. Manager of Neighborhood Impact**

To support applicants who have been impacted by or are involved in relief efforts following the recent tornadoes, Cornerstone CDC has extended the application deadline for the Sr. Manager of Neighborhood Impact position (serving the West End and Visitation Park through WeCollab STL).

New Deadline: June 2

Thank you for all who have reached out with your prayers and concern. Our families at Cornerstone are safe, though many parts of our neighborhood are dealing with the aftermath of the sudden tornado that swept through the neighborhood from downed power lines to life-threatening injuries.

We are allowing the authorities in the City to coordinate the full effort and will share information as it useful and available, like the advocacy and volunteer roundup Action St. Louis is organizing.

Please stay tuned and continue to keep our community in your prayers.

This Good Friday— with so much going on in the world that feels wrong — the joy set before us feels evident in the simple act of sharing Easter baskets with our residents. We all carry hard stories and to have something so plain and unnecessary, but oh so joyful kindly interrupt our lives and thoughts, feels reflective of that resurrection power.

Cornerstone restores properties that could otherwise become blighted and uses them to provide affordable rental housing with personalized management while collaborating with other organizations to be a catalyst for thriving communities.
