Today the Roman Catholic Foundation joins the faithful of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, and faithful from around the world as they celebrate the Mass for the beatification of Venerable Fulton J. Sheen of the United States at the Dome at the America's Center in St. Louis, Missouri.

Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, will preside at the beatification Mass, representing Pope Leo XIV.

After his heroic virtue was recognized, Fulton Sheen was declared Venerable in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. In 2019, Pope Francis authorized a decree recognizing a miracle through his intercession. This recognition cleared Archbishop Sheen for beatification, after which he will have the title "Blessed."

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause in prayer to remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and ordinary citizens who showed extraordinary courage.
We pray for all who continue to carry the sorrow of that day, and we ask God to grant our nation peace, unity, and hope.

May we never forget.

Lord, on this Labor Day, we thank You for the blessing of work. We ask for strength to complete each day. We ask for rest when we are weary.

We ask Your guidance for everyone seeking employment, and we ask that You be with those whose faces we might never see, but who work tirelessly each day for the good of us all.

Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Louis. He is the patron saint of the city of St. Louis, as well as builders, crusaders, and barbers, and the namesake of our Archdiocese. The city of Saint Louis, Missouri was named for him by early American Catholics who came from France.

St. Louis is the only canonized king of France, reigning from 1226 to 1270. November 29 will mark the 800th anniversary of his coronation at the age of 12. He reigned until his death in 1270, dying in a fight in one of the crusades to regain the Holy Land for Christians when he was only fifty-five years old. He built the Sainte-Chapelle ("Holy Chapel"), located within the royal palace complex. He was declared a saint by Pope Boniface VIII in 1297.

The Basilica of Saint Louis, King of France, located on the Mississippi riverfront, is the first cathedral west of the Mississippi River, and until 1844 was the only parish church in St. Louis.
