Important meeting coming up on October 14 - be sure to attend!
SAVE THE DATE: Your next 5th Ward town hall is next Wednesday, October 14 in Southwest Garden. The meeting will be at the St. Louis Activity Center, 5602 Arsenal Street. The forum will start at 630 pm and end no later than 8 pm. We'll be joined by Amy Bickford and Aaron Dohogne.
Amy is the program manager of the City’s Homeless Services Division. She will discuss last Winter’s Code Blue project, the City’s plan for serving the unhoused this Winter, and how the Division is working year-round with the homeless in our neighborhoods.
My office fields many inquiries every month about homeless issues. This year we struggled with encampments ranging from Manchester Avenue to beneath the Columbia-Southwest Avenue bridges, along Kingshighway, and in Tilles Park. The town hall is your opportunity to speak directly with Amy and the Homeless Services Division about your observations and concerns.
We’ll also hear from Aaron Dohogne of Trash for Trees, a grassroots volunteer organization working to make St. Louis cleaner and greener. The organization brings neighbors together for litter cleanups and partners with local businesses and sponsors to plant native Missouri trees in residents’ yards.
Trash for Trees is a great example of what residents, volunteers, and local businesses can achieve when they work together to care for the community. In 2024 alone, 228 volunteers contributed more than 360 hours of service, collected over 166,000 pieces of trash, and helped plant 110 trees throughout St. Louis.
I will also provide updates about pending legislation, a November ballot initiative concerning the City Charter, community and City events, and respond to your questions.
