⚽ FIFA World Cup Watch Party ⚽

Join the World Affairs Council for a watch party for the biggest soccer event of the summer, the FIFA World Cup! Watch the Côte d’Ivoire vs. Germany match on June 20 at the International Institute of St. Louis in collaboration with the St. Louis African Chamber of Commerce, St. Louis Mosaic Project, Vitendo 4 Africa, the Saint Louis Missouri - Senegal Sister Cities Committee, the International Institute of St. Louis, and World Trade Center St. Louis. This matchup between members of Group E promises an exciting finish, as Germany looks to advance past the group stage for the first time since winning the World Cup in 2014. Additionally, Côte D’Ivoire also looks to make it out of the group stage after not qualifying for the World Cup in 2018 or 2022. 🏆

Doors will open at 2:00pm, with the match starting at 3:00pm. International themed finger foods, snacks, and beverages will be provided. Get your ticket now!

Join the World Affairs Council of St. Louis for our 2026 IVLP Resource Recognition Evening & Great Decisions program featuring Ambassador (ret.) Alina Romanowski.

A retired Career Minister in the U.S. Foreign Service and former U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar, Ambassador Romanowski brings decades of diplomatic leadership and global expertise. She will share insights on the evolving challenges facing U.S. foreign policy, international diplomacy, and America's role in an increasingly complex world.

This special evening will also recognize the volunteers, hosts, and community partners whose support makes the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) possible in St. Louis.

🌎 A big thank you to our Spring 2026 World Affairs STL Interns! 🌎

This semester, they helped host multiple events bringing the world to St. Louis! The interns helped host the 2026 Academic WorldQuest, with over 20 high school teams in attendance, sending one team to the national competition. Additionally, they worked with programming for the 2026 International Trivia Quest, allowing the St. Louis community to put their knowledge to the test in a game of trivia. Overall, the interns wrote 30+ IVLP proposals, bringing international visitors to the St. Louis area.

The World Affairs Council of St. Louis and the St. Louis Mosaic Project are proud to launch the first-ever: St. Louis Region Student Peace Survey! Launching for the 2026-2027 school year, this brief, non-partisan survey will invite students to reflect on what peace means to them, how they consider the future, and how young people believe they can shape the world. Participating schools will receive their own results, while regional findings will be shared with St. Louis media on World Peace Day, September 21.

The World Affairs Council of St. Louis proudly hosted the 2026 International Trivia Quest on April 30 at the International Institute of St. Louis. Community members came together to test their knowledge of current events, geography, pop culture, and beyond—all in the spirit of friendly competition and global curiosity.

The night was packed with excitement, from a lively wine pull and Dead or Alive showdown to a thrilling 50/50 raffle. With 20+ teams in the mix, the competition was fierce—but only three standout teams rose above the rest to claim a spot on the podium! 🏆

On April 9, the World Affairs Council of St. Louis hosted a distinguished luncheon at the St. Louis Club, welcoming former ambassadors, members, professional partners, and special guests for an afternoon of meaningful global dialogue. As part of our Great Decisions – Ambassador’s Series: Off the Record, attendees benefited from a powerful discussion with former Ambassador Steven Pifer, who shared firsthand insights from his career in European diplomacy and his experience navigating U.S.–Russia relations during critical moments in history.
“Diplomacy remains one of the most essential tools for sustaining global stability—especially when trust is strained, and dialogue is most difficult,” Ambassador Pifer emphasized.
