Rooted in the Jesuit mission of forming young men and women for the greater glory of God, Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, launched an Order of Christian Initiation of Teens (OCIT) program during the 2025–2026 academic year. The Office of Mission, Ministry, and Diversity, Pastoral Ministries, the Theology Department, and the Jesuits in the school community collaborated to administer the new program.

Dr. Sajit Kabadi, assistant principal of mission, ministry, and diversity at Regis Jesuit, wrote in our most recent issue of Jesuits Magazine:

"Our OCIT program stands as a powerful testament to the spiritual longing of our students and their desire to know God more deeply. Their witness reminds us that faith is not merely inherited; it is lived, chosen and renewed through a personal encounter with Jesus Christ. As a Jesuit, Catholic school, we are blessed to accompany young people on this journey of discipleship.

Through OCIT, we have seen firsthand that Christ continues to call all of us into a deeper relationship with Him. Our students’ responses have strengthened not only their own faith, but also the faith of our entire community. In accompanying them, we are reminded that God is always at work, inviting each of us to co-labor with God in closer relationship."

Our novices in Denver visited Regis Jesuit High School's Vocations Week, along with Jesuit vocation promoter, Fr. Michael Wegenka, SJ. Please pray that young men and women have the courage to joyfully answer God's call to the priesthood or religious life.

Father Tom Rochford, SJ, has published a new book! Discovering Íñigo: An Illustrated Life of St. Ignatius Loyola includes a series of Fr. Rochford’s original woodblock prints and tells the story of Ignatius in a clear, narrative style based in historical research using primary sources.

This written and illustrated portrait of St. Ignatius offers spiritual insight while highlighting key moments in the life of the founder of the Society of Jesus.

A missionary and servant to the Catholic people of Kyrgyzstan, Bishop Anthony Corcoran, SJ, a Jesuit of our province, was ordained a bishop in Rome on September 29.

Reflecting on the experience of his ordination on September 29, Bishop Corcoran's thoughts were with the people he has been called to serve:

"Pope Leo’s clear vision that this tiny flock must have a bishop is so encouraging. But it is also a challenge, really, as are the words of the ordi­nation and the theology of what it means to be a bishop. It is charging me with a task to be focused apostol­ically, to give everything. In simple terms, being a bishop is to be 'all in.'"

Over 90 friends and benefactors joined us for a Day of Reflection led by Fr. Anthony Wieck, SJ, at Grand Coteau Retreats this month. Father Wieck's conferences centered on the theme of healing, touching on sacraments of healing as well as the broader dimensions of spiritual, emotional and physical restoration.

Many were able to add an overnight stay in the newly renovated retreat center, including a candlelit procession to the Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto on the grounds of the historic St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for prayer. Thank you to all who attended this prayerful time of fellowship.

Today, October 19, the Society of Jesus in the United States celebrates the feast day of the North American Martyrs, eight French Jesuit missionaries martyred between 1642 and 1649 in Canada and Upstate New York. The Jesuits in Canada celebrated the feast day on September 26.​​​​​​​​

Deacon Ian Peoples, SJ, was ordained to the diaconate alongside five of his Jesuit brothers in Boston, where he is currently completing his theology studies at the Clough School of Theology and Ministry at Boston College, on October 3.

We give thanks to God for these Jesuits' continued response to service in the Church through the ministry of word and charity. Please pray for them as they continue formation in anticipation of ordination to the priesthood.

As Catholics, we are called to participate in public life with well-formed consciences, rooted in prayer, discernment and a commitment to the common good.

In his 2024 reflection on the U.S. bishops' document Forming Consciences for Faithful Citizenship, Fr. Bill McCormick, SJ, explores how an Ignatian approach to civic engagement calls us to be people of hope, truth and discernment in a divided world. As we prepare for the 2026 midterm elections, his article reminds us that our political choices should flow from our faith, while never reducing our faith to politics.

Father Anthony Corcoran, SJ, a member of the Jesuits USA Central and Southern (UCS) Province, was ordained to the episcopate on September 29 as titular bishop of Aëtus while remaining apostolic administrator of Kyrgyzstan. His ordination was celebrated at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome. Bishop Corcoran celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving the next day at the Church of the Gesù, the mother church of the Society of Jesus.

Father Tom Greene, SJ, former UCS provincial, and Fr. Mark Thibodeaux, SJ, current novice director, were asked to attend to represent our province during the ordination events in Rome. After the festivities were over, Fr. Thibodeaux spoke with Bishop Corcoran about his experiences.
