This past World Day of Migrants and Refugees, people of all religions and backgrounds gathered in Overland to honor a local couple who was murdered in Guatemala after the husband was deported there and wife traveled back to stay with him. The Archdiocese of St. Louis Episcopal Vicar shared a statement from Archbishop Rozanski quoted in this post as a reminder that our Archdiocese stands with immigrants, for the justice of those deported, and for the unity of families separated by detention centers.

Thank you to Archbishop Rozanski and those who gathered in honor of Glendy and Nixon; may their souls rest in peace with the knowledge that justice is being pursued for them.

Today, we celebrate the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. While commonly known for his love of animals, we adopted the name of St. Francis because he embodies a selfless devotion to others, a simple way of life, and an unabashed love for the poor.

His life became a powerful witness to the Gospel message of caring for the least among us, and his legacy continues to inspire acts of charity and solidarity with the marginalized.

This Sunday, we invite you to emulate St. Francis in your everyday interactions with those around you: spreading love for all, selflessly doing acts of charity, and praying for the success of our ministry.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us.

Our after-school program has officially started this week, so here is a final look back at our summer camp!

We are so excited for the school year ahead as we welcome young faces back in to the building for our different programs.

Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, and all those whose lives were forever changed by the attacks.

We honor the courage and selflessness of the first responders, service members, ordinary citizens, and countless others who ran toward those in need. We remember the families who lost loved ones and all who continue to carry the wounds of that day.

As people of faith, we entrust those who died to God's loving mercy and pray for all who mourn. We also pray for our nation and for peace in our world.

May we never forget. May we continue to choose compassion, unity, and love of neighbor.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen. 🇺🇸

Today, we give thanks for the dignity of work and for the countless people whose labor strengthens our families, communities, and country.

In a special way, we look to St. Joseph the Worker, who reminds us that our daily work, whether seen by many or known only to God, can be an expression of love, service, and human dignity.

At Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis, we are especially grateful for our coworkers whose work each day brings the healing, help, and hope of Jesus Christ to our neighbors throughout the Archdiocese.

This Labor Day, we pray for all workers, for those seeking meaningful employment, for those whose work goes unseen or unrecognized, and for all who labor to provide for the people they love.
