Robbie’s parents found out while she was still in the womb that she would be born with serious heart problems that would need surgery soon after she was born.

Since Robbie needed special medical care at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, her family packed their things and drove two hours from Central Illinois to St. Louis. They left without knowing when they would be back home as a family of four.

While Robbie’s mom was hospitalized before delivery, HavenHouse provided stability for their 22-month-old daughter, Kate, and a place for grandparents to step in and support the family during long, uncertain days.

Today, you can help provide those same comforts to families like Robbie’s by donating simple items that help caregivers stay energized through long hospital days and late nights away from home. This week, we need a restock of diet sodas and granola bars.

When patients, families, and caregivers travel to St. Louis for medical care, the last thing we want them to worry about is how they'll feed themselves.

That's why we provide our guests with two meals a day, thanks in large part to our talented and generous volunteer groups. ❤️💜

Rain or shine (and maybe even a storm or two), HavenHouse board member Virginia “Ginny” McDowell and her husband, Mike, spent two full days working tirelessly to make Ginny's Garden look fantastic! ❤️💜

They added jalapeño peppers, garlic chives, and oregano to the Pizza Garden, along with basil, parsley, thyme, green beans, cantaloupe, eggplant, and okra to JoJo’s Garden. The top level of the Honor Garden is now a beautiful zinnia cutting garden — and the more you cut, the more they bloom!

We are so grateful to Ginny and Mike for pouring their time, energy, and heart into these spaces for our patients, families, and caregivers!

And special thanks to Ray, Alan, and Missy for lending a hand and heavy lifting (and digging, too)!

Last week, we had the honor of attending the Sponsor Recognition and Grantee Recipient Luncheon hosted by The St. Louis Men's Group Against Cancer at the Sheraton Westport Chalet.

We are incredibly grateful to have been awarded a grant that will help support oncology patients and their families staying at HavenHouse while receiving treatment in St. Louis. ❤️💜

Emma’s family travels six hours from Arkansas to St. Louis so she can receive specialized care for Rett Syndrome at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. When the cost and stress of traveling for care began to pile up, HavenHouse St. Louis became a place of comfort and relief.

“Traveling with a medically complex child is very stressful,” Emma’s mom shared, “but HavenHouse has taken some of that stress away.”

Today, you can help support families like Emma’s by donating protein shakes and Swiffer wipes to help keep caregivers nourished and our house clean, comfortable, and ready to welcome every family who needs us. ❤️💜
