25 CATS FIXED IN SOUTHEASTERN MISSOURI! LET'S DO MORE

It's been roughly a year since we asked for help for feral cats in three colonies in southeast Missouri. We put out three calls for help, and our wonderful, kind donors responded. There were setbacks: the human trapper's illness, humans who didn't want people trapping cats on their property, wily feral moms, but thanks to the kindness and determination of our donors and this kind woman, 25 cats were fixed. When appropriate, some cats went to barn homes.

There are still more. There are four colonies, including the original three. There are now 15 cats to be spayed or neutered, some of them hidden by feral moms, some of them in areas where our trappers were afraid to go because of other humans, and some kittens simply born before she could get to them all. It was a tremendous achievement, preventing hundreds of cats. The cat's helper is now taking some of them to a vet in Arkansas (that's how far away this trapper is from us), which is cheaper, but we still estimate that we need $3,000 for the remaining cats. It's an estimate because we don't know the s*x of all of them, or how many kittens might be out there, but the previous effort achieved a lot.

It was also a lesson for people who were unfriendly to the effort. One location was down to three or four cats, but because people didn't understand what a lucky thing it is to have someone taking the time and effort to control the cat population near them, they now have about 14 cats they don't want, because if you don't get the cats fixed, babies keep coming.

There is no program for inexpensive spay/neuter in this area. Taking cats hours away to St. Louis, a couple at a time, would be prohibitive. We are grateful that a few people are working to fix this overpopulation situation. Let's help them out!

UPDATE: More needed. Mom is now spayed, one baby is scheduled, but one more remains. Thanks to previous donors! 💕 We still need to get one more kitten neutered. The littles stick together and both need to be fixed for a chance at healthy lives. 💕 Can we raise a bit more? Sharing helps too.

A very young mother and her two kittens wandered to the home of a person at Poplar Bluff. The kind human worried about the little family, all babies really, and gave them food. She desperately wants to keep these stray cats from hopelessly multiplying.

We agree! $540 will spay all three cats. We know it's a lot, but there are no less expensive options in the area, and many stray cats.

Please help this kind woman to help stop the cruel cycle of babies having babies. Every donation and share helps. Thank you!

From southern Missouri to northern Illinois! We can attest to how sweet this cat is. During her nearly 7-hour journey with strangers, even as she was in pain, she craved human contact. It might seem odd that we work with a rescue so far from us, but they have pulled cats from dire situations in our service area and gotten them healthy and cared for. We are so grateful! An opportunity to help shelter cats and dogs

Sure, it's 80+ degrees out today, but December is just around the corner! Do you want to do good for shelter animals this holiday season? Don't want to spend money on ornaments for your office tree? We can help you with both of those things! It's time to sign up for our annual ornament drive.
Here's how it works: you have (or know someone who has) a business, church, office, or other space that's open to a bunch of people. We have ornaments (cardboard) with shelter animals' photos on the front and short wish lists on the back. You display our ornaments in your space and invite members of The Public to take one and grant a shelter animal's wishes!

CATS OUT OF CONTROL!

One person is finding it difficult, if not impossible, to keep up with the cats dumped at her rural home. It's a constant worry. There are three mom cats with multiple kittens, plus maybe four males who come around at night. They are all in some degree feral, and none are fixed. She's trying to keep everyone fed and warm, and the kittens safe. To this end, she's caught seven kittens so far. One mama and three kittens are still pretty feral, but the others are beginning to trust her. The males she only sees on her outdoor camera. She is frantic with worry that these cats will multiply and the situation will get totally out of hand.

She is able to pay something toward getting the cats spayed and neutered, but that's a lot of money for one person on a fixed income, and she's already feeding them. She isn't near an inexpensive vet or subsidized service. We'd like to raise at least $180 to help her with the three mamas, which is just a start, but a good start. If we raised any more, we could make appointments for the others.

These three are Ursula, Zoey, and Monkey! Please don't let them down.

TWO BEAUTIFUL BOYS NEED NEUTERS

A person in Morley, Missouri, already worried about a growing feral colony in her neighborhood, found two kittens behind her shed.

She set about gaining their trust, and it worked! The boys are indoors now, joining her other rescues, three dogs and a cat. But she needs help to get the new arrivals neutered, not wanting to add to the stray population.

$300 will allow this caring person to continue to care for these animals and to staunch the growth of the feral cat population.
