Job Description:
The Natural Bridge Managing Editor is responsible for the day to day operations of the journal, including working with our printer, working with Submittable, working with submitters and contributors, keeping track of subscriptions, managing tales at book fairs and reading events, working with distributors and book stores, and (most important) using In Design to do all pre-press work for journal publication. Proofreading prose, sending poems out for comments and proofing, checking on ads and sending exchange ads, and verifying the list of Friends as well as the masthead, etc. . Production deadlines—usually self-imposed, must be adhered to. The Managing Editor works with the Department of English administrative assistants in handling money, both incoming and outgoing. The Managing Editor reports to the editor (Mary Troy) as well as to the MFA director, and to the guest editor of each issue. The Managing Editor assigns jobs to volunteers and to assistant editors—members of the class responsible for accepting work for a specific issue. The Managing Editor represents Natural Bridge to bookstores, local and national, as well as at the annual AWP convention and other symposia or events that could arise, including an annual launch.

Payment for this position will begin in August, 2017, but the job begins in June as the incoming Managing Editor works with the outgoing Managing Editor, Dusty Freund, to learn the job. (Some summer availability is a must)
