Women's Voices Raised For Social Justice Women's Voices is a multi-issue organization in St. Louis with no religious affiliation that educates and advocates for social justice. We are not fund-raisers.

We are a group of ardent, progressive St. Louis area women who finally got fed up. We became so concerned about the direction of this country and where its priorities seem to be that we decided we must do something. From our frustration and determination, Women's Voices Raised for Social Justice was born. We are not envelope-stuffers. We are not a single-issue group. And we do not want to re-invent the wheel. Therefore, we have built an organization that enables us to study many different issues and take action for a variety of causes. We frequently support other progressive organizations in their efforts. But first, we study and learn about the issues. Our members are curious, creative, competent and caring. We believe in doing something meaningful in support of our values, and we have great fun and camaraderie in doing so. If you would like to add your voice to ours, we welcome you to join us.

Missourians across the state are launching volunteer teams to GET OUT THE VOTE.

Politicians are counting on you to sit this one out. But this is the Show-Me State. And this November we will SHOW them once again that in Missouri, the will of the people is the supreme law.

No matter who we vote for, or what region of the state we live in, when we make our voices heard at the ballot box, that should matter. But again and again, politicians, lawyers, and lobbyists think they can do whatever they want, no matter what we decide.

Republicans, Democrats, Independents, and everyone in between agree: no matter where you stand on abortion or who we vote for, politicians don't get to overturn the voice of the people. And they donโ€™t get to change the rules every time they lose.

WVR is taking a focused approach to supporting future generations.

Deshunai Barlowe, our Outreach/Membership Director, presented a proposal to the WVR Board to provide $500 to each of two public school teachers at Jury Elementary in the Hazelwood District. These teachers are navigating increased class sizes in an under-resourced district, often purchasing essential classroom supplies with their own money.

The WVR Board enthusiastically approved the proposal, recognizing that even a small investment today can make a meaningful difference in the lives of studentsโ€”and create a ripple effect that may reach generations to come.

Join us Friday, October 23, for a ceremony formally recognizing this grant as we celebrate WVRโ€™s strengthened relationship with Jury Elementary and the Hazelwood School District. The event will also provide an opportunity to explore ways to sustain this engagement beyond the ceremony, including future school and community partnership opportunities.

As part of the Turnaway Project, weโ€™ll gather for community book club discussions featuring abortion research and community conversation to explore reproductive choice, bodily autonomy, and reproductive justice.

Participants will not be required to have OR share personal abortion experiences.

โœจ๐Ÿ“š Synopsis: Truth Is follows Truth Bangura, a seventeen-year-old Black girl, Philadelphia slam poet, and high school senior who discovers she is pregnant by her ex-boyfriend. Certain about the decision she makes for herself, Truth turns to poetry, her notebook, and her slam team as she navigates family conflict, friendship, judgment, and a future she is still trying to imagine.

Told through free verse, journal entries, and poetry, the novel explores reproductive choice, first love, family expectations, community, and the power of finding your voice.

Proposition A helps D.C. politicians. It is a power grab, allowing politicians to choose their voters, by changing how Missouri's congressional maps are drawn.

As a former mayor of Parkville, Kathy Dusenbery knows all politics is local, and Prop A takes decisions about Missouri away from Missourians. She's a lifelong conservative and a registered Republican, and she believes politicians picking their voters is wrong no matter which party is in control.

Why are Republicans and Democrats voting NO on Proposition A this November?

A Republican lawmaker said he is voting no "because right is right and wrong is wrong, no matter who is doing it". Republicans, Democrats, and the conservative House speaker all voted against rigging Missouri's congressional map. Rigging maps to hold onto power is wrong, no matter which party you belong to.
