Dear AACC Members and Community Partners,

Happy Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month!

There are many exciting events happening across the St. Louis region in celebration of AANHPI heritage, and we are proud to be part of this vibrant community. I’m honored to serve as the new President of the Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis.

I would also like to take a moment to recognize and thank our former Executive Director Jeff Wade and past President, Dio Maranan for their outstanding leadership and the lasting impact they have made on our organization and the broader community. I’m excited to share that Yasmin Chittakhone will be serving as our new Vice President.

As we look ahead to the remainder of 2026, I am excited about the opportunities to further empower AANHPI-owned businesses, foster meaningful connections, and support economic growth throughout the St. Louis region.

On Wednesday, May 27th, we will host an AACC Business Workshop Series session in partnership with First Mid Trust Bank, focusing on Cash Management and Fraud Awareness. Register here: https://lnkd.in/gqErG4Zx

We also invite you to stay engaged through our upcoming networking events, business workshops, and community initiatives. And be sure to save the date for our premier annual event in November — The Connections Dinner. We hope to see you there!

Warm regards,
Kevin Chau
President, Asian American Chamber of Commerce St. Louis

What an incredible evening at our AACC Lunar New Year Celebration – Year of the Fire Horse.

We were hoping for 80 guests — and were thrilled to welcome 100+ attendees. Even more meaningful, nearly 75% of attendees shared that they were not familiar with Lunar New Year traditions, which made the evening even more impactful.

To see our community experience the dragon dance, participate in calligraphy, learn about zodiac traditions, and red envelopes was exactly why we host events like this — to bring cultures together through shared experiences.

A special thank you to:

• Dio Maranan, AACC President, for his leadership
• Board Member Courtney Chen for her support
• Jasmine Chen for leading the charge and beautifully executing so many of the cultural elements

We’re also grateful to our board members who attended and supported the evening:
Hanh Nguyen,
Helen Lee,
Tim Bruewer,
Nguyen Violette, and
Pradeep Ranjendran

We’re grateful for our generous sponsors:

• Husch Blackwell– Event Space Sponsor
• Bank of Washington – Food Sponsor
• CNB St. Louis Bank – Drink Sponsor

And thank you to County Executive Sam Page, for providing opening remarks and supporting our community.

This is what AACC is about — creating space for culture, connection, and education in a way that strengthens our entire region.

The Asian American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis was proud to sponsor and support the Emerson Leadership Institute at the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University for an inspiring evening with James C. Rhee and Yvonne Park.

James’ philosophy challenged leaders to rethink what kindness truly means in business. It is not “niceness” — it is transparency, candor, integrity, trust, constancy, and grace. It is understanding the math of the business while creating an environment where people can act with ownership and agency.

His CEO Citizenship framework resonated deeply:
• Act like an owner
• Be a good friend (with candor, not flattery)
• Be a good mentor for future generations

These principles align closely with AACC’s mission to elevate leaders, strengthen businesses, and build a thriving, collaborative regional economy.

AACC extends its sincere thanks to Ruth E. Kim for her leadership, for providing event photos, and for allowing AACC to participate in such a meaningful gathering. Appreciation as well to Dean Jackson Nickerson, Jintong Tang, and the entire Emerson Leadership Institute team for creating “the room where it happens” and filling it with leaders committed to impact.

St. Louis continues to rise when leaders come together with purpose.
