The June 2026 Mission Goal Report is now available on the LWML website. Your mite offerings, prayerfully given, are adding up to serve in the mission field!

As Lutheran Women in Mission, we are focused on providing financial records that are complete and accurate. This is a detailed process that requires diligent work, and while we are prioritizing it as we transition with new staff, please be assured that this has not affected our mission support. All Mission Grant disbursements, funded by your faithful mite offerings, continue to be distributed on schedule. Our Place is a caring, Christian community for special needs students between the ages of thirteen and twenty who are not safe when home alone and have aged out of the Hastings, Nebraska, daycares. Grounded in a Christ-like love for their neighbors, Our Place provides programming designed to promote academic, social, and life skills and opportunities to grow spiritually through community service and enrichment activities.

By serving these students and their families, Our Place fulfills Jesus’ call to compassion by being a community for and with our neighbors. This grant will fund the purchase of a special needs accessible van for the after-school program.

October’s "His Story" honors Katie Stam, who achieved her childhood dream by becoming 2009's Miss America. Raised on a farm in Indiana, Katie's life and faith were anchored in her family and Lutheran education, which she brought with her when she stepped onto the national stage.

Throughout her life, she relied on prayer and God's Word to guide her purpose. Katie used every opportunity to share her faith, advocate for children through the Children’s Miracle Network, and support military families. Katie continues to share her faith and influence others to serve the Lord with the gifts God has given them.

Maudie's life of service began before her high school graduation and has continued to the celebration of her 90th birthday. Her life is full of as she serves the Lord with gladness even when challenges and struggles threatened her and her family.

Concordia Publishing House and LWML together have had a long-lasting partnership in Gospel outreach. For this year's LWML Sunday, you can use a variety of free and discounted resources to mark the occasion.

In the Word
"Jesus said to them, 'For she has done a beautiful thing to me. … In pouring this ointment on my body, she has done it to prepare me for burial'” (Matthew 26:10, 12).

Of the Word
One day as Jesus ate dinner, a woman approached Him and poured expensive ointment on Him. In this special moment, her anointing was preparing Him for His burial.

Jesus has also given us a special anointing to prepare us for death. Ours is a baptismal anointing in water and the Word. His sacramental grace prepares us and our loved ones for that final hour with the sure and certain hope of the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting.

Upon this foundation of God’s grace, we have opportunity to offer special “ointments” to family members who are facing death. Hold them. Kiss them. Sing hymns. Read psalms. Pray the Lord’s Prayer. Remind them of Jesus’ love. Gentle touches and grace-filled words are beautiful ways to prepare family members and yourself for that last hour. These are special moments born from what Christ has done to prepare us for the hour of death. It is a beautiful thing.

Walking with my Lord
O Lord, as You have prepared me for my last hours on this earth, so enable me to do beautiful things for those I love. Fill those last hours with grace and peace. In Your holy name. Amen.
